Be very cautious about how much weight you ladies are cutting & how you recover right after your fights & weight cuts. Our bodies are NOT like the male body when it comes to cutting weight. You want longevity in this sport??? You have to take care of your body, recover properly and that includes being tight on your nutrition after fights, or your body will go to sh*t. Which is probably the hardest thing to do for most fighters. Fighters doing things to the extreme, and LADIES we cannot do that like the men do. arielle_arielle_arielle #10ktuesday for my 3rd attempt at a #10km run I am a bit disappointed, slower time. Running against 35km/hour wind or just under 22miles/hour wind made me feel like I had a resistance band around my waist. Was almost attacked by a neighbors dog and had to take cold and sinus pills the night before to fight off whatever bug is trying to slow me down... but I got it done felt like my body was going to sieze so I jumped into an ice bath for recovery fully clothed. Last 1km was me running up and down the alley trying to get to 10km. Haha And now I am eating everything in my house...   •   mmegav For me the best thing I ever did was forget the clock in training. Watch times in races only. In training only watch distance. Add to the distance in bits whenever you feel ready. Endurance is built by duration not speed and duration combined. < that has helped me, anyway. Keep up the great work! Getting your butt in gear when you feel like crud is HARD. Way to go! 14h

Lol @amyledding thanks not sure if I'm a machine but I am determined! @renaissancedad that wind though! Killer, I just really wanted to beat my last time... next time @mmegav good advice I may have jumped the gun on 10km. Went from 5 straight to 10 with only one 7km run in between. I'm just curious and anxious to see what my body can do so I keep trying to push it to what I think is its limit. Recovery won't be very nice tomorrow I think... 😕 11h
  •   mmegav I totally get it. Pushing limits is what makes it addicting! Here's just one final idea and then I'll leave you alone: instead of going from one distance goal to another, take the time it usually takes you to run an even 5k and run for 15min longer for a week or two. Then add 15 min to that and so on until you reach that next goal. Condition, condition, condition...my 2 cents because you didn't ask for them ;) 10h

You can even ice your muscles for the fastest recovery; many athletes take ice baths! Inflammation you say? You may be thinking taking an anti-inflammatory would be a good idea? Think again, while it may relieve the pain and reduce inflammation, research shows it slows the body's ability to regenerate and heal. My advice of a good plan would be to alternate Weight or HIIT Training days with Cardio(Dance or Cycle) and Regenerative(Yoga or Stretching) days. Most importantly, don't overdo the hard workouts.
