sarahlovesjackwhite Thursday we were walking on Houston Street when Frank noticed the sign on this ballfield...when Frank and I were at NYU law school ('76-'79), Frank's father (who was a lobbyist/lawyer in New Haven) got Frank a job working in the District Office (on Waverly Place) of Assemblyman Bill Passannante...Frank said that Bill Passannante would come into the District Office from time to time and say "Frankie let's go for a ride" and Bill would go to various places in his district and it was Frank's job to sit in the car if Bill couldn't find a parking space...one time during our 3d year of law school ('78/'79) Bill asked Frank to go to the Bowery and tell people there to vote for a particular candidate...I went with Frank to the Bowery, I had never been there...the Bowery was a scary place back then...I remember that we would approach a building which would have a row of doorbells outside one on top of the other, we would ring a doorbell and we would look up as an old lady would stick her head out a window many floors above us and we would tell her what we wanted...and there were bums sleeping inside the doorways of many of the buildings...the Bowery sure is a different place now #greenwichvillage #houstonstreet #nyc #ballfield #williamfpassannanteballfield 1d
