  •   rtraino Aside from Ace hotel, which I adore, I always feel like Broadway between 32nd street and 25th street is a bit like Paterson, NJ - circa 1973. 2y
  •   abresler @rtraino I totally agree 2y
  •   faulklaw This is one of NY's most interesting buildings. 2y

  •   abresler This magnificent beauty may look familiar to some as it was designed by the same architect as the famed #Plaza_Hotel ( as well as the#Dakota_Apartments , the #Waldorf_Astoria , the #Willard in #DC & the #Con_Edison_Building ) 3y
  •   abresler This building features all the beautiful things rarely see in today’s new construction including limestone terra cotta & ornate dormers 3y
  •   abresler The hotel was expanded only 3 years after its delivery due to its massive success & the explosion of Greeley Square & Herald Square as an entertainment shopping & transportation hub. For some godforsaken reason in 1973 NYC turned her into a “short-term” homless shelter that in the 80’s played host to a number of murders. In 1989 the city finally came to their senses & transferred their ground lease to its current lessee #Harold_Thurman who completed its recreation as a hotel in 1996 - this beauty also happens to be the birthplace of the PGA ; I cant wait to see this amazing building fully restored to its prior greatness! 3y
  •   tori321go Fantastic history and pic! Here's to restoration!  3y
  •   abresler @tori321go this is the anomaly of all anomalies & this is maybe more beautiful than the plaza and Willard which are 2 of the most marveled hotels in the world 3y
  •   tori321go Your love for this building, and all buildings! Touching and meaningful! My brother is so much like that, he was an architect major, building models, the 'old fashion' way before that! Always looking at and appreciating beauty of buildings! I do the same! He knows the history of many of the Victorian homes in the area and other structures, etc! He was influenced strongly by Frank Lloyd Wright's work, and saw his work that was in reach...I guess I'm just saying I love your passion and enthusiasm! Understand it! With great pics along the way! I appreciate you being my tour guide! So wanted to live in NYC! So you give me a piece of it each time! Much thanks! Take care!  3y
  •   abresler @tori321go thank you for that :) would love to you around Gotham when you visit-still so much in the 10 square blocks around me so stay tuned :) 3y
  •   tori321go @abresler Will do! Have a great weekend! Take care!  3y

abresler #Building_Buddy @BLDGBUDDY #Ace_Hotel #Architect #Clinton_and_Russell #Contractor #George_Fuller_Company #Redesign_Architect #Roman _and_Williams #Built #1904 #Redeveloped #2009 #12_Stories #344_keys #Developer #GFI_Realty #Equity #Dune_Capital #Hotel_Flag #Ace ; Originally called the #Hotel_Breslin when built at the turn of the 20th century this was considered the class of #NYC hotels. Developed by a successful cattle trader from Kansas City no expense was spared. Breslin used the one of the leading architects and most prestigious contractors of the day (think a building that looks like an iron whose original name was the same as it's original owner/contractor) and those investments continue to payoff to this day. Unfortunately after World War 2 like most of lower fifth the area deteriorated substantially. For some reason this beauty was turned into rent stabilized housing (some tenants remain choosing not to accept GFI buyouts) ; fast forward nearly 60 years when #GFI_Realty realized the potential of both the area and this beauty. The developers successfully restored the beauty brought in #Stumptown and 2 #April_Bloomfield restaurants, retail and Brooklyn sandwich shop #Project_Number_8 making #TheAce one of NYC's coolest places. This hotel more importantly restored this area's historic relevance thus spawning the #rebirth of #NoMad in #Gotham Eat, sleep, play, work, drink ; whatever motivates you to go, just go! 3y

At 13 the hotel is remains in good shape and due to it's size, remains a hugely popular #convention_hotel. 3y

The renovation was a disaster of all disasters featuring death, firing of contractors and massive cost overruns. When all was said and done came out nice and still is! 3y

Despite a very week condo market and the high maintenance of a condo hotel, the residences here maintain some of the city's highest prices many times nearing 1,000 psf. Worth a visit in #Miami 3y

Every detail is accounted for, including artful use of 20 varieties of stone and glass. Despite the addition of countless unnecessary residential additions to Miami now being firesold, demand and secondary pricing has remained strong due to the superior quality of this beauty. Like nearly all projects from New York developer Millennium Partners and any hotel bearing the proud flag of the classy hotel chain created by my favorite Canadian other than Justin Bieber (Izzy Sharpe for those that care) ; this building is there prototype for 21st century mixed use development magic. Go visit of you are in Miami and if you can splurge, stay or buy here! 3y
