picsbytammy "...the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith..." profitablebooks Lost Taste
and the
Abiding Focus
~ Bertron J. Hamill
*** The setting of the scene is that of WWII, an allied force had taken a small town in Europe, and as companies takes shifts from and to the front, the men take advantage of the moment’s recess. In this moment of recess, a wearied sergeant, Robert Gerstung, takes a moment in a half broken home of a house in the French town. He brews a ration of coffee in an abandoned pot, though quite in good shape, takes a chair which could not rock. In following, he sat still in a moment of silence to absorb what he thought of as “home’s comfort” and to recall if he could, yet with no success, the times, the family, and the comforts of home. Although he failed to recall home as he so wished, he did maintain a memory how the soldier’s life pictures that of the life of a believer; in which, he viewed life itself as the field. He is gracefully joined by a young private by the name of Riley Mackinson who carried news that the company was to be shortly mobilized back to the front. Being a good friend of Gerstung, he loathed to disturb him from this remote moment. And so they return to another day at the front.***

  •   profitablebooks ~ He takes a sip of coffee from a cup
    And to a rustic wood ceiling, he looked up
    As if some old thought recalled
    Or a distant memory that he can no longer tell in all
    Mackinson strides patiently to him
    Grieving to be disturbing
    To awake and stir him “Comforts of a home…” states Gerstung “A chair with a fine hold…” His eyes are weary and long “Coffee with flavor, and strong…” “Window’s light, and with a room’s silence” “Peaceful, and quiet” “I hold it, see it, touch it, and drink it” “But I cannot feel it nor taste it” “I can no longer recall” “I can no longer tell of home’s springs and its autumn’s fall” “All the more I look for it” “Home” “And yet all is but another reminder” “I am a soldier, as any other” “As a soldier, I count my days of deployment” “As watching a growing plant” “Waiting for the fruit” “And we wait for fruit of victory” “And to go Home” “It is a great picture” “That we muster” “For we are soldiers of Christ” “Already we have victory” “He paid the price, and we are redeemed” “We number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom” “Redeeming the time because the days are evil” “Day One, Day Two…” “As we look for His appearing, His coming” “On this field, we are not alone” “We fight, and many are already gone” “But soon we’ll be home” Mackinson: “Sergeant…” And he silently listened, in this moment’s remoteness “It’s time to go” “So, they say”
    Gerstung: “And it’s another Day” ~

  •   profitablebooks Tit 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    Tit 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    Tit 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
    2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
    2Pe 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
    2Pe 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
    2Pe 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
    2Pe 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 2h
  •   profitablebooks Sorry that the poem's lines didn't space out as it was supposed to. I don't know why it did that, and I simply don't know how to fix it. Hope you can make sense of it. 1h

ashley__castillo_ The weight of the world is often a heavy burden to carry and can sometimes cause us to lose hope, BUT if God said it HE will do it. I trust in his promises and his word is sufficient. Lord remind me to always hear your voice and not be consumed by those of the world that would cause me to doubt you!! #trust #God #promise #Hisword #blessed #sufficient #fulfill 3h

_christdisciple Deuteronomy 8:6 "Therefore, you shall observe the commandments of the #LORD your #God, to walk in His ways and to #fear Him.
1) Keep His #commandments which is His word. 2) Walk in it, putting it into action and 3) #fear Him, meaning Godly #fear and this is not to be afraid of God but it means to #honor, to #respect and to #value Him. We will do these three things when we want to please #God (to live righteously) but never out of #fear because we are forced to. #DoRight! #ObeyGod! #HisWord! #Observe! #Walk! And #Fear!

ncctitans93 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." ~Romans 12:12 we are called to be joyful, patient, and faithful. This life isn't promised to be easy, but we can have joy knowing of our hope in Jesus, and even in our weakest and most painful moments there's something God is trying to show us, we just need to wait on his perfect timing. And never give up on our communication with him, because it's the only thing that will see us through. #God #HisWord #joyful #patient #faithful #openyourheart 10h

"Therefore also now, saith The Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, an with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto The Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of evil." -Joel 2:12-13
