they_matter #NYC-****ONCE LOVED NOW FACING DEATH**** TO BE DESTROYED - 02/28/15
#Brooklyn Center

My name is #MABELINE. My Animal ID # is #A1028611
I am a female brown and white #labrador retr and #Pitbull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old. 56lbs.

Maybeline finds herself in quite a dangerous situation, the NYCACC has listed her to be destroyed tomorrow and this displaced stray needs help fast. Still young and a little plump, suggesting she was in her home quite recently, she needs the help of a foster or an adopter quickly. Maybeline is a mixture of Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull Terrier, she has a pretty chocolate and white coat, weighs fifty six pounds. She came to the shelter in heat, so she really needs spaying, and out of that environment. Please share, advocate, and pledge if you can for this great mixed dog, time is short, she only has until noon tomorrow. Maybe Mabeline is right for you ?

they_matter #NYC-**DON'T LET THEM KILL WHAT COULD BE YOUR SHADOW!**
TO BE DESTROYED - 02/28/15
#Manhattan Center -P

My name is #SHADOW. My Animal ID # is #A1028138
I am a male gray and white #Staffordshire mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS 70lbs.

A volunteer writes: 'Me and my shadow...we're closer than pages that stick in a book, wherever you find him, you'll find me, just look...' Frank Sinatra could have been singing about my new friend Shadow when he penned those lines as this gorgeous boy just loves getting up close and personal and really does give hugs. He's a people dog at heart. Having lived with the same large family since puppyhood, he's used to spending a lot of time socializing. Solo kennel living hasn't been an easy adjustment for Shadow but when I come to take him out he's nothing but friendly, coming forward to be leashed with no issues, trotting nicely into the hall and donning a coat without complaint before heading outside to explore. He likes sniffing and doing his own thing in the yard but still finds time to partake in some petting, chase a ball and politely accept treats from my hand. Then it's back inside for our photo shoot and boy, does Shadow know how to turn on the charm! He shows me 'sit', 'shake paw' (he's ambidextrous!!!) and an adorable roll-over-for-belly-rubs 'lie down', not to mention smothering me with snuggles. I am officially in love with this amazing guy and once you meet him I know you will be too. Shadow's former owners tell us he's a gentle, playful boy who got along well his 7 human siblings and liked to hang out with the neighbor's small dogs so it's no surprise that he did well his behavior assessment with great scores on everything from resource sharing to doggie socialization.

***SENIOR SITTING ALONE IN A CAGE NOT READY TO DIE*** TO BE DESTROYED - 02/28/15
#Brooklyn Center

My name is #SAL. My Animal ID # is #A1028654
I am a male black and brown #Pitbull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 10 YEARS old. 45lbs.

Imagine being lost, starving and alone in a big city. Then imagine being elderly on top of that. Perhaps then you can understand what Sal is feeling right now. He is off the streets and he is being fed and sheltered but he is still all alone, sitting in a cage, wondering why no one loves him. Sal needs some TLC but that does not mean that his life does not have value. Sal just needs one special person to look inside and see his beautiful heart. Sal has come to the end of his stay at the shelter. the shelter has determined that Sal's life is not worth saving and plans to kill him tomorrow. Will you be the one to show Sal for the first time in his life what it feels like to be wanted and loved? Sal needs a miracle tonight and it is up to all of us to try to get it for him. Please advocate for Sal tonight, or better yet, offer him a home. He will be grateful for the rest of his days and you will know the unconditional love that only Sal can give you. Please don't wait. Tomorrow Sal will be gone forever.

#Brooklyn Center-P

My name is #KIRBY. My Animal ID # is A1028442
I am a neutered male tan and white #CaneCorso and amer #bulldog mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS 86lbs.

No doubt Kirby was just a cute, adorable puppy when his people got him. But now here it is 2 years later and they’ve decided that he’s grown too big for them. Makes you wonder how big they thought a Cane Corso/Bulldog mix would get! So now, Kirby has grown into a super handsome 86 lb dog whose head is reeling at being brought to Brooklyn ACC to sit in a cage 24 x 7. He was in decent health when he got there (and he’s neutered!) and though he was a bit tense, he let himself be poked and prodded for that intrusive intake medical. ACC has decided Kirby has overstayed his welcome and put him on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. Tonight, this big boy needs to find a big dog savvy person who understands how devastated Kirby is at being abandoned, how traumatized he is at sitting in a cage surrounded by barking dogs, wondering if anybody will ever take him out to do his business and stretch his legs, wondering what he could have done that was so awful to end up in a place like this. If you’re ready for an active, full of life big guy who will love long walks and playtime in the yard or the doggie park and who will, in short order, become your very best bff, then start working on fostering or adopting Kirby. But you have to move fast—at noon tomorrow, Kirby will be thrilled when somebody comes to get him out of his cage but too late, he’ll realize they’re just taking him to that room from which no dog ever returns.

My name is #SUEDE. My Animal ID # is #A1027827
I am a male br #brindle and white american #Staffordshire mix. The shelter thinks I am about 7 YEARS old. 57lbs. *SUEDE IS LONGING FOR YOU TO PET HIM TONIGHT AND ALWAYS!**
Suede is a great dog who is exceptionally tuned in to his sense of touch whether it be human or friendly canine. Suede’s biggest impediment to getting adopted is that he’s in his late middle years although he should have several good years ahead of him. Suede is a very friendly dog who was originally purchased from a breeder. Suede’s previous owner confirmed that he regrets letting such a good boy go due to circumstances having nothing to do with Suede’s behavior. He’s a strong and handsome dog who doesn’t always know his own strength, so he’s recommended for a household experienced with rambunctious dogs. Suede has an eye for the ladies, a habit that should quickly fade once he becomes secure in a new home. Suede’s more urgent problem right now is living through the day tomorrow. Doesn’t someone want to spare this playful, soft and wiggly boy from a lonely death tomorrow? Please share Suede to improve his chances at life.

My name is #FOFA. My Animal ID # is #A1028472
I am a spayed female brown and tan #dobermanpinscher and #basenji mix. The shelter thinks I am about 7 YEARS old. 36lbs. ****EXOTIC DOG ON TONIGHT'S DREADED LIST****
Fofa is in quite a bind tonight, this former family pet has been listed by the NYCACC to be destroyed. Fofa has an interesting background originally coming from Africa as a gift to her former owners. She is only thirty six pounds, a doberman basenji mix. The shelter and her former owners agree that she would be best suited in a home without small children. Fofa is nervous and the shelter is no place for her. Please share, advocate, and pledge for this young senior, she is a great size and an experienced foster or adopter can get this misunderstood girl back on the right track. Her deadline is approaching at noon tomorrow, and she needs all hands on deck, she is spayed and ready to start over.

My name is #BRUNO. My Animal ID # is #A1028431
I am a male black and white #CaneCorso mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old. 61lbs.

So somewhere out there, there is a Cane experienced person who is shaking their head that this young boy has ended up in Brooklyn ACC, sitting in a cage 24 x7 hoping that someone will notice he’s there and hoping that one day he’ll even get out to stretch his legs and do his business. Predictably, Bruno did not like being rounded up, stuffed into a truck, being poked and prodded by strangers, and then being stuffed into yet another cage to sit. And then after sitting there for 6 days, somebody finally notices him and they take Bruno to another strange room to be poked and prodded some more for his behavioral eval. With what the assessor describes as “constant body trembling”, Bruno had no idea why his haunch was being touched, why his paw was being squeezed, why a stranger would give him that hard “look”, and what he was supposed to do when that stranger started running him around in that strange room. But look closely—as scared as he was, Bruno did absolutely fine when that new dog entered the room! But that isn’t enough for ACC and besides which, as healthy as he was when he got to the shelter, he’s already caught the “shelter cold”. So they’ve put Bruno on tomorrow’s euthanasia list and made him New Hope Only.

they_matter FINAL NIGHT TO SAVE HER!
#NYC-TO BE DESTROYED - 02/28/15
#Manhattan Center -P

My name is #MALEFICENT. My Animal ID # is #A1027724
I am a female tan and white am #pitbull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 61lbs. **MALEFICENT IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION TONIGHT!**
A volunteer writes: Maleficent may be named for a Disney villain but the only thing this gentle, affectionate girl shares with her namesake is a breathtaking, other-worldly beauty and the mesmerizing eyes of an 'old soul'. Mallie (as I like to call her) may be a little hand-shy at first, but once she trusts that you're not out to harm her, the no-holds-barred lovefest is on! Playful scampers, stand-up hugs and a thousand happy face kisses are what she's all about. And her tail wags happily when I return the favor with a good butt rub. It's wonderful to see her racing about like a carefree puppy, picking up a tennis ball, then dropping it again in favor of more socializing with her beloved people. She relishes treats too, waiting politely before mouthing them ever so softly from my hand. Mallie may not have much experience with walking on leash, pulling quite strongly in the street and occasionally taking the rope in her mouth (though she drops it immediately on command), but her doggie social skills are just perfect. she meets fellow pups with nothing but friendly good manners. A 'full package' pet who offers beauty, loyalty and a lifetime of love to the family lucky enough to take her home, falling under our Maleficent's spell is a surefire way to guarantee your very own happily ever after!

#NYC-TO BE DESTROYED - 02/28/15
#Manhattan Center #Rescue Only-Scared and Alone!

My name is #LALLANA. My Animal ID # is #A1028499
I am a male gray and white american #Staffordshire mix. The shelter thinks I am about 5 YEARS old.

LALLANA was dumped in the shelter in a harsh manner. He’s a middle aged pit bull mix who was found as a stray. Perhaps the finders were afraid of Lallana because they shot the poor guy rather viciously with a dart gun. Then Lallana was dragged into the Manhattan shelter where his nails were clipped too short and his dart wound was treated. Not surprisingly, come morning Lallana didn’t want anything to do with these folks. Lallana is scurrying for shelter from staff members, so he’s been named a New Hope Only adoption. Lallana has been traumatized at this shelter and he’s not likely to relax until he gets out. Meanwhile the shelter’s solution is to simply kill him tomorrow. Lallana needs a chance with someone who will guide him to behave and gain confidence. No one has stepped forward and the clock is ticking. If Lallana is to live, he needs you now.

#Brooklyn Center -P

My name is #RANDY. My Animal ID # is #A1027379 ️ I am a male tan and white american #Staffordshire mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old. 65lbs.

There’s no “shocking “story about Randy; no abuse; no neglect; not a throwaway breeder –he is just a well taken care of dog who was much loved by his family. He loves to play with the kids, loved to go on walks, was housetrained, knows some commands, loves to give and receive hugs—in short, Randy is a family dog has no idea why he’s sitting in this cage 24 x7. Brought to Brooklyn ACC because his family is leaving the country and can’t take him, his great manners shone through as he went through an intrusive medical exam and through a behavioral eval—an eval that he aced despite the fact that he was trembling all through it. And now, of course, Randy has caught the “shelter cold” and ACC’s cure is to put this outstanding boy on tomorrow’s euthanasia list. He’s gorgeous, he’s well mannered, and he’s so very scared and lost! Randy hasn’t had much experience with other dogs so he doesn’t jump in and play during play groups but again his manners came through. Tonight Randy is at real risk of just being overlooked. He’s just a great ordinary family dog who finds himself in an extraordinary situation! Tonight, Randy is hoping that somebody takes a second look at him and just knows that he would fit in so well in their household. If that’s you, start working on fostering or adopting Randy. But remember, at noon tomorrow, ACC won’t consider that this is a family dog who’s scared to death—they’ll just make him gone. ☆★ If you are local to the #TriState, #NewEngland, and the general #Northeast United States area, and you are SERIOUS about #adopting or #fostering one of the #dogs at NYC ACC email help@urgentpetsondeathrow.org

My name is #CHAUNCEY. My Animal ID # is #A1028184
I am a male gray and white #Pitbull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS 43lbs.

Chauncey could be our poster boy for the needy shelter pit bull mix. Chauncey is young and small for a pit bull mix and he’s very appreciative of even little kindnesses like an offered milk bone. Chauncey is a very lively boy who does everything with exuberance including chowing down. The assessor remarked how especially tolerant Chauncey is of other strange dogs. Now Chauncey’s hit tomorrow’s Destroy List because he’s caught a cold. Chauncey longs to be a family’s special boy; he doesn’t know what he could do to make you believe that he’s exceptional - to separate himself from the crowd. Chauncey doesn’t know that he’s special just by being himself. Please come to the Brooklyn shelter to find out just how dear Chauncey can be.

they_matter LAST CHANCE TO SAVE!
#NYC-TO BE DESTROYED - 02/28/15
#Manhattan Center -P
My name is #LAVENDAR. My Animal ID # is #A1028450
I am a female gray and white american #Staffordshire mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS old 54lbs.

So 6 days after adorable Lavendar came into Manhattan ACC as a stray, she came down with the dreaded “shelter cold” and that’s a one way ticket to tomorrow’s euthanasia list. So who is Lavender? Well, first off, she’s stunning—take a look at all he pictures. And she’s young—from the moment she got there all she wanted to do was jump up and lick everybody’s face and even jump up on the counter to get closer to them and play tug of war with the leash. And lastly, she’s a great dog—still young and likely still has a bit of the “bull in a china shop” kind of energy. Look at her behavioral eval—she did fine except when that big ugly plastic hand tried to take her food. So tonight, Lavendar is looking for that one person out there who is also full of energy, who will love to go on long walks with her and play in the yard or doggie park; who will have the time and the patience to teach this pup all those things she needs to learn and fine tune to become the great adult dog she wants to be. If that’s you, she promises a gazillion doggie kisses, promises to keep you fit and trim from those walks, and promises to be your very best bff for years to come. But you have to start working on fostering or adopting Lavendar now. At noon tomorrow, she’ll be thrilled to get out of that cage she’s been sitting in 24 x 7 but instead of taking her out to play and do her business, the folks at ACC will take her to that special room where dogs become “gone”. My name is #PICKLES. My Animal ID # is #A1028105
I am a male tan and white #Pitbull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS 51lbs.

Bashful Pickles is oblivious to his charm but he’s the kind of guy who makes all the girls sigh. He’s a very young pit bull mix and he’s not especially large for his breed. Pickles has an irresistible way of tucking his head and his tail out of shyness. He wants to approach though, so as soon as a human softly calls his name, Pickles braves coming forward. Pickles was abandoned, so this shelter experience is his first sleepover. He is very wary of the temperament assessor, so he’s recommended for an experienced dog family that doesn’t have young children. Pickles should be supervised around children even though he has never bitten anyone. Pickles was even nicely shy around other strange dogs, but he takes his first chance to retreat to safety. Now Pickles has caught kennel cough and they’re going to kill him tomorrow. Do you know someone who might come to the rescue of this homeless gentle soul? Pickles’ life depends on your response.
