ttroubledhigh Beauty Of Life Breath is what keeps us together, because life is not forever. While my heart pounds deep in my chest. I count the days we have left. There is more of us to share, though in the beginning I was not prepared. For your voice allures me, your touch enticed me, you heart invites me, and your eyes reminds me. As our paths drift towards different roads, I will cherish our times with in my soul. You may know what you have done. You made this man believe in the sun. I believe in the stars, the sky and moon. Some day I will name a star after you. So when I gaze upon the stars and see you shine bright. It was you that showed me the beauty of life. 30min

mrswanda THIS IS A MUST READ!!! This is such an amazing and beautiful story of a Haitian woman determination to succeed against all odds. I'm sure this was the reality for most of us Haitian American kids growing up. "You Are Bigger Than Your Circumstances, Nothing great has ever been achieved except by those who dared believe that something inside them was superior to circumstances.”----------------------------------------
By @humansofny: My family emigrated from Haiti when I was seven. None of us spoke any English. So I learned at a very early age that I would need education to advocate for myself. My father worked as a landscaper and my mother was a janitor. Whenever they visited my elementary school, they would need a translator to speak to my teachers. Ms. Rogers, my first grade teacher, told me that I would need to learn fast so that I could advocate for my family. She gave me extra books to bring home during the summer. I remember being a child, and arguing about bills with cable and utility companies. I kept advocating for my parents until my father passed away last year. Because he couldn’t speak English, his doctors never took the time to fully explain his cancer to him. So I had to get on the phone and draw the prognosis out of his doctors. I had to tell my father he had stage four pancreatic cancer, and I was the one who had to deal with the insurance companies. I would not have been able to do that without my education.” ---------------------------------------------------------Ms. Lebrun teaches at Mott Hall Bridges Academy, a middle school in the under-served community of Brownsville, Brooklyn. As we learn about the school, its scholars, and its educators, we are raising money to establish a scholarship fund for its students. If you’d like to participate, you can do so via the link in the HONY bio. #Lunionsuite #HONY #NYC #Haitian #Haitianamerican #Educationiskey THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TAG ME TO THIS ️Yall
