  •   cncmedcom_pty_ltd I have had this machine and run 12k rpm 17hrs a day for the past 4 yrs. 400,000 tool changes and still as reliable as the day i got it! I have never ran a high end machine and wonder how much more performance could you get for the extra cost? Love my Haas. 3h
  •   37revolutions @kalpay We have have VF2ss, VF2, 3, 5, and a 6 I believe. We also have some YCM's fanuc, fadal, 2 mazak horizontals, 3 mazak 5 axis, 3 Okuma lathes and the 5 axis okuma with 6 pedestals is being setup right now. The Okuma lathes are sweet. Easy to program and a ton of functionality. The Haas mills have all had some form of issue. They work great when they work. Our Mazaks run 24/7 and they don't go down. Our oldest Okuma is a Captain and while it doesn't have a Y axis it just goes and goes. The newer Okuma's rock. with a 3" bore and subspindle, the amount that can be done is unbelievable. Things that used to have a mill OP are all done on the lathe now. 2h
  •   kalpay @j_frederick_hall just smaller. Less weight. And probably way less rigid. 2h
  •   kalpay @andrewthemachinist no sir. You waiting for that day? 2h
  •   kalpay @cycodre then you would be the perfect person to ask. How much am I sacrificing on surface finish and tolerancing stepping down from my VM3 to a VF2SS? My sales guy sent me some information but it was pretty outdated. They were comparing a 2007 SS to a 2011 SS. Something about having better servomotors now so finishes were way better. And my sales guy is telling me that the finish I can achieve on an SS will be very close to my moldmaking machine. Any feedback is appreciated. 2h
  •   newtype72 All I can say here a Sinister wheel in turlock is our standard VF-2 is awesome for the size parts it runs, finishes are amazing and the SS would certainly be even better. Ours is a 2014 though. Big drawback is the drain that seems to covet small hair like chips and collects and builds up waaaaayyy too fast. @kalpay 1h
  •   cartel_mfg_corp It always amuses me when other people that aren't spending their money tell you to... "Buy a brother, okuma, mori" etc... Were a haas shop (1 vf3, 1 vf3ss & st10) and they have their place in the market. All machines have their pros and cons. But for $80k you're not gonna get a better bang for your buck than a vf2. 55min
  •   ccontres24 We have a vf5 that has been beat and abused for 16 years and still holds .0002 tolerances 50min
