  •   cheladice Oh, cool. I often hike near the Paul Revere capture site. Never been knew he'd been captured until I saw the sign. Lol 2d
  •   ohxnelli Haha a lot of people don't know that, @cheladice. :) Some even say he cracked when he was being questioned haha. The history they don't tell you. Surprise surprise lol. 2d
  •   cheladice Seriously! Lol Like, I don't know if I was told and just didn't remember, but I honestly didn't realize until I was an adult that the pilgrims dressed up as Native Americans when they threw the tea overboard! First, how are you protesting anything if you're pretending it was done by someone else? And second, throwing the blame on Native Americans? WTF? 2d
  •   ohxnelli Exactly, @cheladice! American history at its finest. /end sarcasm. The sad thing is how off base everything is taught. I've always loved history, more so after having majored in it and learning interesting tidbits like Paul Revere being apprehended. 2d
  •   cheladice I love history as an adult. Like, really love it. But as a kid, it was all about names and dates. Completely devoid of the human aspect. 2d
  •   ohxnelli I was always a social studies/history kind of kid. I remember reading The Diary of Anne Frank in 5th grade (my social studies teacher let us borrow books). I think that's really what started my love affair with history. I've always been lucky to have educators who focused more on the what happened, why, and effect(s) the events had. Names and dates were never that important to them. To this day, I'm terrible with most names and dates but I can recall the events themselves. 2d

  •   doctorblueb0x if you want to go to a cool cemetery you have to come out to the burbs when you're in chicago. i can take you to the graveyard were al capone dumped his bodies. OR if u were interested...we can go see al capone's actual grave. Or both! 1mon
  •   littlemissgirlscout @doctorblueb0x Yes!!! This sounds like a perfect idea. (: 1mon
  •   doctorblueb0x sweet! the one where he's supposed to have dumped his bodies is called Bachelor's Grove and it's haunted. it'd have to be during the day bc its a forest preserve and its like the only one they enforce the no trespassing after dark rule. i got in trouble for it once. I think it's a lot cooler it the day anyway. i'll have to look up the name of the cemetery he's buried in. 1mon

dtzboston A visit to the Old Granary Burial Ground on Boston’s Freedom Trail brings you to the grave of Mother Goose, but is she really buried there? There are claims that this grave is not the actual Mother Goose but Bostonians believe it is, so it must be. There are other historical figures buried here including John Hancock, Paul Revere, Sam Adams, Peter Faneuil, and Crispus Attucks. It is worth a visit if you haven’t been before. #cre #freedomtrail #mothergoose #granaryburialground #boston #history #faneuilhall 3mon
