livinglovinginspiring AUSTRALIA DAY
-
Friends from all over the world, who have asked me today...what exactly is Australia Day? Let me briefly fill you in.
-
It was on the 26th January 1788 that the First Fleet from Great Britain settled on Australian land and claimed it to be their own. So on this day every year many Australians celebrate our culture together, the "Aussie" way by having BBQs, pavlova, lamingtons, going to the beach, being in the sunshine with friends and family, playing Aussie sports, National awards are presented etc However, the Indigenous Australians call this "Invasion Day" because it was the day when their land was taken over by the British. It still effects new generations of Indigenous Australians. We need to respect the culture and history of our traditional custodians of this land.

For me...I arrived in Australia in 1990 from Slovakia, with my parents. They wanted a better quality of life for me and for them, a life with endless opportunities. I am forever grateful to them I absolutely adore Australia the sunshine state, where I live, makes my heart sing with the sunshine ️ gorgeous beaches and a beautiful laid back culture. In Australia the opportunities are endless. I love to travel, meet new people, experience new cultures. But at the end of the day, Australia is my home and I'm so proud to say that

Lo-fi arcticbarbiegirltoo
arcticbarbiegirltoo Baked potatoes for dinner! I took advice from @petitebakeshoppe and made some delicious potatoes. I put a different spin on them--used chopped spring onions, shredded @Tillamook sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Gouda, light sour cream, sea salt, and crushed black pepper. Super delicious. I wasn't sure where to get the artichoke antipasto delicious, healthy, #glutenfree and filling #yum #bakedpotatoes #nogluten #dinner 39s

munchwithlove A slightly belated pancake Sunday but special occasions call for special stacks. Forgot to buy blueberries so my grand plans of an #australiaday flag stack fell through, but it's still red for the @triple_j #hottest100 Raspberry coconut cacao pannies with @natureswayoz super greens and @loving_earth cacao and shredded coconut, aka mouthfuls of my favourite fluffies ever ️ Happy lamington day! 5min
