bennettb Incredibly inspiring sharing of wisdom here via @carobennett well worth following her feed ・・・. Just returning from powerful climate equity strategy sessions and inspiring convos with friends from indigenous & frontline communities, NGOs and climate & energy experts gathered to discuss keeping fossil fuels in the ground from the Arctic to the Amazon. Sure has me thinking; such incredible wisdom lives in the rainforest with so much to offer these global conversations. I could listen to Sápara leader, shaman and friend Manari enlighten for hours (I did), a few scribbled words are a taste - "If we remove the oil from underground it affects the plants above the ground, the mountain, river, the sky...it affects you and it affects me. All that comes from the earth is related to oil—the spirit of nature in its diverse forms of expression are what must guide our struggle. We must understand and feel this. It is difficult to supersede vanity, egoism translated in public policy, but if we want to change the planet and work together as human beings, this is what we need to change. If we don’t then our speeches, struggles and decisions are in vain. "
We know that climate survival depends on keeping two-thirds of fossil fuels in the ground unburned and that we must act now to put an end to extraction. The Amazon—which generates 20% of our oxygen and is the heart pump of the earth’s weather system—is the last place we should be exploring for more oil .
These organizations and communities have been challenging destructive fossil fuel projects—coal, oil and gas—while working toward a just transition to a clean energy future. They realize that in seeking solutions to the impacts of climate change, local, regional and global efforts must come together to address world leaders and the public to keep fossils fuels in the ground.

On Earth
Is one... Our industrial civilization has been pouring carbon dioxide into the atmosphere at a great rate. By the year 2000 we will have added about 70 percent more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. If it remained, it would have a very marked warming effect on the earth's climate, but most of it will probably be absorbed by the oceans. Conceivably, however, it could cause significant melting of the great icecaps and raise sea levels in time.
