Normal Mr.G.E.E.V.Es EP
mistagoodevil #Marvel and #Hasbro are joining forces to make cosplay and playtime more real than ever. #Gizmodo says the two are releasing a line of "movie accurate" accessories for wannabe heroes that are damn impressive considering they're toys. That said, they are not at all priced like toys.

That #IronMan helmet? It's gonna run you a $100. While that may seem steep, the front of the mask is removable, and there are several LEDs and and sound effects to shoot off, all through the use of a few AAA batteries. #CapsShield is made of metal to give it that true glossy finish.

The #MarvelLegends role playing line will be available sometime this fall.

Did ya hear?
This is astronishing. (Hehe. That was a typo that will now become a pun.)•
Since Albert Einstein first predicted their existence a century ago, physicists have been on the hunt for gravitational waves, ripples in the fabric of spacetime. That hunt is now over. Gravitational waves exist, and we’ve found them.

That’s according to researchers at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), who have been holed up for weeks, working round-the-clock to confirm that the very first direct detection of gravitational waves is the real deal. False signals have been detected before, and even though the rumors first reported by Gizmodo have been flying for a month, the LIGO team wanted to be absolutely certain before making an official announcement.
That announcement has just come. Gravitational waves were observed on September 14th, 2015, at 5:51 am ET by both of the LIGO detectors, located in Livingston, Louisiana, and Hanford, Washington. The source? A supermassive black hole collision that took place 1.3 billion years ago. When it occurred, about three times the mass of the sun was converted to energy in a fraction of a second.
Gravitational waves are ripples in the universe caused by some of the most energetic cosmic events, from exploding stars to supermassive black hole mergers. As they propagate through space and time, gravitational waves cause tiny tremors in atoms that make up matter. While Einstein predicted them in his general theory of relativity in 1916, and their existence was indirectly demonstrated in the 1980s, it wasn’t until the LIGO detector came online in 2002 that the hunt for elusive spacetime ripples started to get serious.

But the first generation LIGO experiment, which ran for eight years, wasn’t sensitive enough. Which is understandable. Gravitational waves are minuscule— the atomic jitters that pass through our world when two black holes bash together in a distant galaxy are on the order of a billionth of a billionth the diameter of an atom. LIGO detects them by proxy, using high powered lasers to measure tiny changes in the distance between two...

riccardo_von_mazza "Sometimes parents have to explain things to their kids in more child-friendly terms. During World War II, that meant outfitting a child with a weird Mickey Mouse gas mask.

It was 1942, just about a month after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Fearing imminent chemical attack on American soil, the government issued thousands of gas mask to civilians. But the smallest citizens couldn't fit into the regulation-sized masks. They were too heavy and too big. Plus, aren't those things scary?
Well, while the Mickey Mouse mask might have soothed children, it was possibly scarier for mom and dad. Designed to fit kids 18 months to four years old, the mask was supposed to be worn as a sort of game, to take away some of the fear out of a chemical attack. Although, the masks probably weren't supposed to be so freaky. Sure, a child might be safer. But a mother might look at her toddler and think the real enemy was not the Axis powers across the ocean, but the tiny human with the head of a cartoon mouse with a perma-grin sitting in her lap.

Anyway, with Disney's approval, Sun Rubber Company produced 1,000 of these strange masks in 1942. In 1944, it actually won the Army-Navy E for Excellence for producing them. Sun was supposed to make other versions of the pint-sized mask featuring other cartoon characters later on, but for whatever reason never did."

mumbaikarwala Mumbai Garbage fire is so huge you can see it from space.

News Report by @gizmodo

Here is a trash fire. This new image posted by the NASA Earth Observatory shows the devastating smoke cloud coming off the Deonar dumping ground in Mumbai, India. According to the report, the landfill handles 3700 metric tons of waste ever day, accounting for about a third of the city’s garbage.

NASA sensors first detected signs of the fire last week. The above true color image was captured by the Landsat 8. Though it’s hard to see from space, some of the trash piles are a startling nine stories high. Here’s a more zoomed out image, which makes what is a horrible urban ecological disaster look beautiful.

pubpost #Amazon Will Open Over 300 Physical #Bookstores Because Life Is a Practical Joke Played On Us All

Amazon is working on plans to open hundreds of brick-and-mortar bookstores, according to a new report from #CNBC. Yes, following in the footsteps of chains like Borders, Amazon apparently thinks that the future is in dead trees.

Amazon already has one physical store that opened back in November. The Seattle store was dismissed as a “#vanity #project” when it was first announced, but apparently it worked out well enough that Amazon is willing to bet big money on it. It ain’t cheap to open 300-400 #retail #stores.

Update 5:55pm EST: An Amazon spokesperson has told #Gizmodo that they don’t comment on rumors and speculation. The original source of the report appears to be a mall executive forGeneral Growth Properties Inc.

Update 6:25pm EST: Anonymous Amazon sources are somewhat angry about the reports, which come from a non-Amazon CEO, and are calling the entire story (this one included) “misleading.” Gizmodo has repeatedly asked for on-the-record denials from multiple sources within Amazon and been denied.

Update 6:43pm EST: Anonymous Amazon sources are particularly angry about my last update.
