imistrot Paul McCartney's "Rode All Night" is a Ram (1971) album unreleased song, a nearly 9-minute rocker of fast chugging guitar and drums with McCartney’s improvised lyrics, vocal shouts above it, recorded on 22 october 1970 at the CBS studios, New York. One afternoon after lunch the sessions had stopped, Paul and Linda took off to a deli for a bite to eat. The session guitarist Hugh McCracken left for the day as well and Denny Seiwell started breaking down his kit thinking the day's work was finished. At that point, Paul got back to the studio and said to Denny, still there, he had something he wanted to work on. Paul has commented, "I just had a few lyrics, a few chords ideas, and I knew I was going to sort of screaming it." McCartney took his Gibson Firebird guitar and started tearing through Rode All Night. By the time the engineer Tim Geelan, caught up with the duo and pressed record they were already on take 2. Denny later commented, "If you think the version you hear is rockin', that first take was balls to the wall rock -n- roll!". McCartney tells, " I left the editing's idea because I realize, I was trying to get back to speed, trying to get the feeling that we had on the first take". Years later Rode All Night formed part of another McCartney song entitled Giddy which Roger Daltrey recorded and released for his third solo work, One Of The Boys (1977). Now, it has been dusted off the original 1970's take 2 in the new Ram remastered edition (2012) bonus tracks. #paulandlindamccartney #paulmccartney #rodeallnight #ram #1971 #cbsstudios #newyork #dennyseiwell #remastered #drummer #gibsonfirebird #mccartney #hughmccraken #rockandroll #firsttake #giddy #rogerdaltrey #oneoftheboys #thebeatles #exbeatles 5d
