almishamc #BootCamp Week 8 Day 4: Real talk, I was just like these dogs when I got in from the gym today. We did four sets of the following: 8 power cleans, 8 sumo dead lifts, 4 power clean squats, 4 snatch and thrust (I think that's what they were called) in between each set we did a 100 yd sprint/jog. Do the math... That is 2400 yards. I am so glad that I did not stop to do the math before I started. I think I would have been so focused on the number that I would have failed to focus on my own strength. By the time we finished and after stopping by the store for some papaya and bananas, I came home and literally fell across the bed and slept for 2 hours (the perks of being a teacher and being off for the summer). Today's focus - as it is every day - was building our strength. And that means running farther and lifting more than we ever thought we could. We can't get so caught up on the numbers that we see it as impossible before we even start. It's the same if you are considering starting your own journey to a healthy lifestyle. Don't get so focused on a final number (either of pounds or dress size) that you fail to see the many tiny and major accomplishments you will make along the way. Focus on building your strength, endurance, and your gains. Eventually, you will see the difference. And collapsing after your workout will be a reward for a job well done.
