myhealthydish_ Chia Seeds, Flaxseeds and Hemp seeds Oh My!
Chia Seeds: also known as Aztec Warrior super food. 1 tbsp. has 2 grams protein, 4 grams of fiber and 1.75 grams of omega 3s. Also high in calcium. Seed turns into a gel like consistency when added to liquid, very similar to tapioca. Does not need to be grounded to release nutrients. I add to my smoothies, top on my yogurt, or added it to my water.
Flax Seeds: Our bodies cannot digest seeds whole, so I suggest buying milled flaxseed. Or you can use a coffee grinder or food processor. 1 tbsp. has 2 grams protein, 3 grams of fiber, 2 grams omega-3s. Also a good source of Iron. I add to my smoothies, pancakes, muffins, or any bake goods.
Hemp seeds: comes from a variety of Cannabis, the plant contains extremely low levels of THC. It contains all essential amino acids making it ideal source for protein for Vegans. Taste similar to sunflower seeds, but a slightly softer. 1 tbsp. has 4 grams of protein, 16% dv phosphorus, 16% dv magnesium, 1 gram omega-3s. Add to your smoothies, toast and eat by itself, add to salads.
You can find all 3 items at most health food stores like Whole Foods. I’ve seen them at Trader Joe’s and of course my favorite spot Costco.
I don’t really think one is better than other; it’s your preference. All 3 are nutrient dense.

withhealthcomeshappiness My dessert after lunch was a mug of this granola goodness that my mom made yesterday! I have a peanut and nut allergy so it is very hard to find granola and protein bars. So she made these which are oats baked with eggs, cinnamon, cinnamon, flax seed, and raisins! So nutritious, not sweet, easily, an yummy!! Now going for a hike to get out in this beautiful sunshine! 2h
