adrieltjokro The Food Bazaar at Flatiron Plaza is officially closed. I missed it so much. Did you get a chance to enjoy some of the culinary there?

vinniecue One of my favorite sights in NY the historic Flatiron Building.

The distinctive triangular shape of the Flatiron Building, designed by Chicago architect Daniel Burnham and built in 1902, allowed it to fill the wedge-shaped property located at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Broadway. The building was intended to serve as offices for the George A. Fuller Company, a major Chicago contracting firm. At 22 stories and 307 feet, the Flatiron was never the city’s tallest building, but always one of its most dramatic-looking, and its popularity with photographers and artists has made it an enduring symbol of New York for more than a century.

napoleongroup Al Parker (1906–1985) was an American artist and illustrator, who was known as the "Dean of Illustrators".
Attended Washington University's School of Fine Arts in St. Louis, Missouri in 1922.
Parker moved to New York City in 1935. He produced illustrations for Chatelaine, Collier's, Ladies' Home Journal and Woman's Home Companion.
Starting in 1938, he produced a total of 50 covers over a 13-year period for the Ladies' Home Journal. He also sold illustrations to Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, McCall's, The Saturday Evening Post, Sports Illustrated, Town and Country and Vogue. Parker later became part of the art colony in suburban New Rochelle, New York, which was well known for its unprecedented number of prominent American illustrators. Parker is credited with creating a new school of illustration and was much imitated. In an effort to distinguish himself from his imitators, he worked in a variety of styles, themes and media. In cooperation with the magazine's art director, he secretly provided every illustration in an issue of Cosmopolitan, using different pseudonyms, styles and mediums for each story.
Parker was one of the founding faculty members for the Famous Artists School. He was elected to the Society of Illustrators' Hall of Fame in 1965. -Wikipedia #alparker #illustration #illustrator #madmen #nyc #oldavertising #1950s #guoache #acrylics #traditional #newyork #newyorkcity #flatirondistrict #madisonave

lori_essman I took these photos simply for my love of #classic #architecture and #design. I tried to research the building but can't find anything on the #builder #architect or #style which is Victorian. All i found is a quote from a book called #TheRoughGuideToNewYork when describing the once termed #LadiesMile: when this stretch of #Broadway was lined with fancy boutiques, stating "a few sculpted #facades and curvy lintels remain as #mementos of that #GildedAge including this #Victorian wedding cake of a building at 901 Broadway and east20th." #FlatIronDistrict #Manhattan #NYC #NewYorkCity #NewYork #NY #CurbAppeal #Balcony 18h
