soilycompany76 One of the more hated Harrison records but it happens to be one of my favorites #georgeharrison #appleyears #applecorps #Harrison #ExtraTexture #ExtraTextureReadAllAboutIt 3w
  •   beatle_tony I loved all of Harrison's seventies albums. Extra Texture was considered gloomy and the Dark Horse album was nicknamed Dark Hoarse. Nevertheless I'm looking forward to getting the remastered CDs of those 2 titles. 2w
  •   soilycompany76 @beatle_tony I'm a big fan of Harrison's solo career but some of it let me down. I'll admit I like the vast majority of DH and ET. I was never too fond of "Living in the Material World", though the album had some shining points. "Thirty Three & 1/3" is not one of my favorites but I really think it's just the fact that I haven't gave it enough listens. I do favorite a few songs on this record though. kind of the same way I felt about "Flaming Pie" which is now my second favorite McCartney record. "George Harrison", I never had any real problem with this album, just a nice easy listen, plus it's got some of my personal favorites on it. The album I don't care for really at all was "Somewhere In England", besides the lead single and a few other songs this album just seemed like George just recorded these songs without any interest. I do like the outtake from the album "Flying Hour" a lot. "Gone Troppo" is one I'm a bit two sided on. There's a few good songs and some not so good ones. Still "Circles" is the draw in for me. "Cloud Nine" well what can I say that hasn't been said? This is an album I love start to finish. Simple as that. Nearly the same with the posthumous "Brainwashed". I suppose a lot of these albums just haven't grown on me yet. As for this was the case with Paul's catalog too. Really a lot of my all time favorites never appeared on a record much less something in the core catalog like George's version of "It Don't Come Easy", "Mo", "Horse to the Water", "Lay His Head", "Poor Little Girl", "Cockimamie Business", "Sat Singing", and I could go on. 2w
  •   beatle_tony I love Harrison's material right up to 1979's "George Harrison"album and like you I was disappointed with Somewhere in England and Gone Troppo. George at this point didn't care or crave for attention and basically wanted to semi-retire preferring gardening, Formula 1 racing and just living life peacefully away from the public eye. He got into filmmaking but lost money in the late eighties with some flops which prompted him to record again coming out with the wonderful Cloud Nine album and finally agreeing to participate in the Anthology project. I hope Dhani has some good surprises from the vaults with the upcoming release of The Apple Years. Perhaps some unreleased songs from ATMP or from the Beatles years. 2w
