torigranados THIS is why I post either a status, article, or picture about car seat safety EVERYDAY!! To help inform mothers who did not know because that's one more child that is safer in a car. If you think I'm "attacking" you or being a "car seat nazi" because I post my opinions on my page that's you and your conscience. I just want to help inform mothers & fathers who would not know other wise. -Legal requirements are 1 year AND 20lbs not 1 year or 20lbs. -AAP recommends 2 years & when your child outgrows the requirements for their seats. -The CHEST clip is called a chest clip for a reason, it belongs at chest level at underam level. -You can buy a convertible seat for $39.00 that the max rearfacing is 35lbs & 36". -Find the right car seat for your car because not all car seats are created equal and not all at seats will fit in every car. Baby's R Us will let you try it out in the vehicle. -Go to your local fire or police department to double check the seat is installed correctly. -NO EXCUSES

torigranados This is not directed at anyone particular. I have seen tons of parents turn around their kids before they even reach 1. Please do your research. The legal forward facing requirements are 1 year AND 20lbs. It is recommended you rear face until at least two and then until they outgrow their car seat requirements or their head is less than an inch from the top of the car seat. My son is going to be 1 in September and is going to be rear facing for as long as possible. He is 76% in height (29") and weighs 20lbs and has plenty of leg room to go. This is how he always sits in his car seat. There is no excuse to say your less than 1 year old or just turned 1 year old is too long for rear facing. His car seat max for rear facing is 40" & 40lbs. So he'll be in it well until 2 & hopefully 3. It is not a milestone to be turned around at 1 or before then (it's illegal). I know and have friends that have rear faces until they're 4!! It's all about safety not convenience. Your child's spinal cord is not fused until at least 4-6. When forward facing this snap when in a crash causing instant death or internal bleeding or internal decapitation. Wouldn't you rather pay for a cast (there are no proven cases of broken legs when extended rearfacing) when you're in an accident versus a casket? Same goes for this backless boosters since all it is a phone book you are sitting on. Spend the extra $15 and get the high back one with harness up to 50-60lbs & weight limit of 100lbs.

  •   sophiecoupons Thanks so much for this info! Very helpful for a first time mommy :) 13h
  •   torigranados @sophiecoupons thank you! A lot of people just go by what they did back in the day versus what is the safest. I would rather him be too safe than not safe enough. 12h
  •   sophiecoupons I was actually shopping for a car seat las Sunday, I was so overwhelmed with so many options, I asked for help and I was told my baby is big enough to go forward facing(she's only 9 months but she's big) so this was coming from an employee, can you imagine! I didn't buy anything because I left my coupons at home. Glad I read your post now she's definitely going to stay facing the back for as long as she can :) @torigranados 10h
  •   torigranados @sophiecoupons you totally made my day!! That's one more child that safer!! 7h

  •   malia1018 In my state u can have forward facing at 1 but they have to be at lest 20 lb @wrapyouandme 14h
  •   wrapyouandme @malia1018 yes you can turn them around at 1/20lbs this is for best safety regulations google extended rear facing and why 14h
  •   our_kids_our_future @malia1018 tons of states have legal laws of age 1... The problem is the laws aren't safe. We need to update them to the new studies. The legal process is slow, but we will help make sure all babies are safe, despite the unsafe laws. :) #extendedrearfacing check the link! It's so cool that a baby is 5x safer rear facing! 12h
  •   malia1018 Oh yeah I agree @our_kids_our_future mine is 1 and about 23lb but she is still rear facing, better safe than sorry 12h
  •   wrapyouandme @malia1018 I rear faced my girls until they were 3 1/2 and at almost 5 they are still in 5 point car seat @our_kids_our_future yes thank you laws are hard to change! 12h
  •   wrapyouandme 12h
  •   our_kids_our_future @wrapyouandme tbh, I didn't know any of this info, so my kid was forward facing at one. No accident. That was luck. My 4 year old just grew out of her old car seat (which I wouldn't have know if it wasn't for social networking) and I bought her a new one. I would have done booster if she weighed 40, but my friend said harness was safer. So, my barely 4 year old will be in harness until roughly 5.5 (depending on how accurate my math is...). I did it wrong for 4 years. I'm so happy to know all this info now and I'm so happy there are "car seat nazi's" out there to keep my kid safe. :) 12h

X-Pro II Rachel Anna
fitmomto3 Guess who got her big girl car seat! I'll give you a hint, she's ten months old and the vocabulary consists of 3 words: "hello" "momma" and "dadda"
This is the Maxi Cosi Pria 70, and it's the car seat we have been using with all of our kids since we discovered it 3 years ago. It had a 40 lb rear facing limit which is one of the highest on the market and a 70 lb forward facing limit! It has the FlexTech technology which evenly distributes energy in a crash, the side impact protection and the air protect head protection. Plus it's designed to fit rear facing in almost ALL vehicles, unlike most bulky convertible car seats. Not to mention... The padding/material is more comfortable than any other car seat I have ever seen. ...and as always... Make sure the chest clip is at armpit height, the straps aren't twisted, the straps are right enough that you can't pinch then between your fingers, you don't use any car seat accessories that go between the baby and the seat unless they come with the seat you purchased and should straps should be right at or slightly below shoulder level whole rearfacing. #keepthemsafe #maxicosi #pria70 #bestcarseat #extendedrearfacing #carseatsafety

erincain23 #repost 1 year, 25 pounds, and Quinn is still happily facing the back. Did you know that rear facing is 5X more safe for your toddler?? 5X!! The American academy of pediatrics highly recommends you keep your child rear facing until they are 2 years old or reach 35 pounds! Most convertible car seats now allow your child to rear face until try are 40 pounds. #keepthemrearfacing #extendedrearfacing #carseatnazi #keepyourchildsafe #iknowimannoying 2d

beccaellison0229 Brought Mason's car seat in to clean it up and put the base back on... Look at that extend! #extendedrearfacing #foonf 2d
  •   beccaellison0229 @annette_meneses1 they have a cheaper one coming out called the floo or fllo or something 2d
  •   zuniga2011 Fllo @annette_meneses1 we also have the Clek Foonf and love it! The safety features are amazeballz! But if you're ballin' on a budget Diono radian (rf to 45) or Ranier (rf to 50) are also extremely safe and almost 1/2 the price buuuut Clek is the top in safety 2d
  •   caseyabbott_11 How long do you plan on leaving him rear facing? I just turned baylee around at 21 months. Due to the car seat requirements 2d
  •   beccaellison0229 @caseyabbott_11 she met both weight and weight maximums? That's odd. Mason's max weight it 50 pounds I believe... And he's really small for his age so not until I feel like he's big enough. 2d
  •   beckmommy We LOVE our foonf! My 95%ile height 28 month old still has oodles of leg room! @beccaellison0229 beware- rarely does a child reach the seat weight limits, they almost always outgrow by height, so that is the number to pay more attention to. Weight is important for LATCH limits. With the foonf being so massively heavy, in my Chevy I had to switch to a seat belt install when my guy hit 29lb. 2d
  •   beccaellison0229 @beckmommy we've been using the seat belt and not latch anyways. He's not forward facing, I was just surprised my friends daughter has met requirements because she's younger than my son who isn't 2 yet. 2d
  •   beckmommy I assumed yours was Rf :). You just mentioned the 50lb weight limit, which is basically pointless. Unless the child has a metabolic disease or something, the foonf will be outgrown RF by height well before weight, as with most seats. Just wanted to be sure you were aware :). I see so many toddlers RF (which is awesome...) but they have clearly outgrown their seat by height as their head has well exceeded the 1" rule. This is more dangerous than turning them FF. 2d
  •   beckmommy Unfortunately there are many convertibles that are just not good choices for ERF. My son outgrew his britax marathon RF by height around age 2. That is why we bought the foonf. FF before 4 is not an option for us! 2d
