annette_nz North Island Robin - Toutouwai - Endemic - Protected
Robins are extremely bold and fearless and will approach humans with curiosity. They feed on insects, grubs and worms on the forest floor and are often seen to tremble one leg to cause a vibration in the ground to induce prey to move.

colibrijimenez Im reading a interesting book for PHD I written by an Italian writer, Italo Calvino, one if it's short stories it's named "Under the Jaguar Sun" and it's about his visit to my country, he discovers México throw our gastronomy and it's interesting how intents to describe as a European our flavors and ingredients mixed with our prehispanic savage history of human sacrifices and mysticism, Mexican actual gastronomy is a mixture of an infinite number of ingredients combined with sensations such as spiciness from the chiles, known world wide and related to Mexican food.
The jaguar, holly animal for our ancestral cultures and warriors, animal represented in battles, and the sun one of the most important gods for our prehispanic cultures, I was actually named Hummingbird "Colibri" in Spanish after an Aztec legend related to rebirth of the warriors of the god sun, that's another story.
Mexican cuisine now days it's a representation of our counties history influence with the Spanish times also has influence from the African slaves Spanish brought to Mexico, France, and the spices rout, all this came to change our prehispanic gastronomy.
It is sad some foreigners relate our gastronomy with Tex-Mex food, this is far far from reality, our gastronomy is the vivid representation of our cultural history and heritage, unable to explain in words thanks to the complex ingredients some don't even have translation and are endemic, also it's complexity of elaboration on recipes.

So you will have to come visit and see with your own eyes.

It is the preffered food of the #kereru It GROWS readily from seed if fruit is soaked for a few days and flesh removed. Seed will germinate in sealed plastic bags in partial shade. enchantingectotherms The Spiny Riversnail (Io fluvialis) is an #endemic #snail of the #Tennessee #river drainage. This is the largest North American freshwater snail, getting some 2 inches long. These are imperiled in much of their range and are a protected species in #Virginia. The good news is that we found them to be abundant while in the #Holston river system. This species had been wiped out from this stretch of river, but a campaign to collect individuals out of the Powell River to translocate into the Holston has apparently met with success, since the ones we found were miles below the site of reintroduction and were quite common. 20h
