cheavensgallery Most artists are pigeon-holed for a certain style or subject matter. Who would have ever guessed that Monet did this? Love this work titled, "The Pave de Chailly"...Claude Monet 1865. (Reminds me of East Texas where I grew up) #monet #art #TBT #austintexas #atx #artgalleries #easttexas 1h

Picked up my favourite handmade Old Gringo boots from the shoe shop in Longview...and the new half sole & heel is *perfect*. These have been the best service shoes EVER & I missed them after wearing holes through 2 layers of leather. Welcome home.

laneluckie Tyler family of three escaped a house fire overnight thanks to working smoke detectors. Quick response from firefighters, who had the S. Chilton Ave. blaze out in less than an hour.

etxtraveler Did ya you know? The Trinity is the longest river in Texas. Native Americans new it as the Arkikosa and Daycoa. In 1687, the French explorer La Salle, referred to it as the "River of Canoes." In 1690, De Leon, founder of the first Spanish mission in East Texas, gave the river it's name.
Wonderful post by our good friend Dana Goolsby @myetx.

  •   jakekinzer I live in east Texas and they said there's high amounts of mercury in fish caught from this river. Just wondering if anyone else has heard that @simba_lion1 2w
  •   simba_lion1 I never heard. I've been living in Dallas for the past 15 yrs. people always say to not eat the fish. But I never heard any public officials said that. The river area in downtown Dallas is going thru a remodel phase. U can find alligators though. @jakekinzer 2w

  •   edna_m_mccrary Mom talks about as a child in the 40s the water in the Trinity was clear! 2w
  •   dgetx @etxtraveler, thanks for the love! 2w
  •   dgetx On a side note, the subject of the Trinity River's water quality is a murky one. A century or so ago, the river was basically considered dead due to pollution and inadequate sewage drainage. Today steps are being taken to clean up the waters of the Trinity through waste water purification in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. Basically, the waste water is cleaned and reintroduced into the river. Did you know most of Houston's drinking water comes from the Trinity? Yep. True story. The river is cleaner today than it has been in many years, and even supports sensitive aquatic life. According to TPWD, sections of the river's water quality is listed as poor. As far as eating fish pulled from the Trinity, I don't really eat freshwater fish and don't think about it much. But it seems to me that it's likely you've drank a glass of water from the Trinity River at some point in your life. 2w
