therealdavebey SAMUEL COLERIDGE TAYLOR

A composer and musician born of Sierra Leone and Afro-English descent raised in Croydon, England.
One of the youngest delegate to attend the 1900 Pan-African Conference, Coleridge Taylor attempted to bring awareness to traditional African music in England. During his career Coleridge was received by President T.Roosevelt for his contributions to music in. Coleridge Taylor died at 37 a few days after collapsing outside West Croydon train station from pneumonia. In his death King George V added “too young to die” and ensured Coleridge Taylor’s wife and 2 children were taken care of financially as in those days composers rarely received all their royalties. This lead to formation of the Performing Rights Society.

shaktacular Black History is American history. It should be taught and learned 365 days a year... but February is the birthday month of Black History. It's a month to recognize, highlight, and celebrate all of the contributions made and the legacies left behind by our Black leaders and ancestors. #BlackHistoryMonth #February #Celebrate #EachOneTeachOne #StillMakingHistory #DidYouKnow... 42min

soulsexc ️ this from @chakabars. My kinda #SundaySchool

When I was in school I got told my ancestors were enslaved and before that they were swinging from trees.
Then I learned that my African ancestors created the first civilisations, while in Europe they were still living in caves.
Now I teach in schools and I tell young black men about Kush, Timbuktu, Sudan and the Congo.
I tell them about the Moors and there integral involvement in the renaissance, how they brought hygiene to Europe. If it wasn't for their ancestors fighting themselves free, slavery would have continued.
I teach them about Mansa Musa I of Mali – the 14th century African king who was named the richest person in all history.
(With an inflation adjusted fortune of $400 billion, Mansa Musa I would have been considerably richer than the world’s current richest man)
I tell them that there are more pyramids in Sudan than there are in Egypt.
I teach them that the enslavement of their ancestors was the worlds greatest crime, that without it there would have been no industrial revolution in England.
That their ancestors built that White House, because the head Architect and construction Team were African.
I teach them about the American civil war and how it would have never been won if it wasn't for the African regiments.
I teach them that they are beautiful. Not that they are superior because supremacy is the reason why the world is in Chaos.
I teach them to loved their skin because it's full of melanin.
I teach them that the Europeans at the time were stupid for having to steal people and resources, they should have just asked and traded, then there would be no imminent revolution, just peace and fair trade.
I teach them that Christopher Columbus had an African Navigator called Pedro Alonso Niño, At the time of Columbus, African navigators were in advance of their white European counterparts. They had (already) established documented trade with China, Mediterranean Europe, India and Atlantic islands.
I teach them because in school I was told lies and mistruths.
I teach them because I taught myself and my friends taught me not the schools.
I teach them because I love them.

mrskingfyanasty Black History Month, or National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history. #BlackHistory #BlackHistoryMonth #eachoneteachone 7h

  •   xpdesigns @damadoms I love this! But what I was trying to articulate was that European Society has taught us that eye liner tight clothes lipstick nail polish ect....is considered feminine and now that pharell is wearing eyeliner and Kanye and OMAR EPPS HARD ASS is wearing skirts and wiz Khalifa is wearing purple locks and bird man and little Wayne openly and admittedly mouth kiss each other is telling BLACK MEN that the world (lie) as they know it is a lie, in fact the young youth will turn out gay and won't procreate in return more depopulation! All I'm saying is skirts ect.....shouldn't be considered feminine but we've been truly brainwashed into believing that so now these boys will INFACT.............turn from heterosexual to homosexual. Just my thoughts (and I'm gay but the feeling behind the word that describes a portion of who I am, I don't like so I'm referring to my self as........HAPPY! and GOD FEARING AND JESUS (INRI) BELIEVING OF COURSE :) LOVE YALL! LETS STAY FOCUSED ON LOVE AND FAMILY! I WAS BORN GAY I WASNT BRAINWASHED INTO IT! 6h

explicitly_intellectual My truth is manifested unapologetically. Afrikan I entered, and Afrikan I shall depart. So before you part your lips in express ignorance, questioning why I decided to "go natural"; understand that it is not I, who went anywhere. It is you who departed, insisting on connecting and identifying with a European standard of beauty. Running around with blonde weave, colored contacts, false eyelashes............ All the while crying, b%tching and moaning, unable to understand why your son is engaged to a white woman. Miss me with that foolishness. Peace
