clear.space.clear.mind We all have #favorites. It #stresses me out that I'm #keeping #unnecessary things just because they're pretty or were expensive. If I'm not using them, why am I keeping them? These shoes and jeans are things I actually wear. I always go back to the same few things. It's like that with makeup and art supplies too. I downsized, but not enough. It also bothers me that selling things can be so time consuming. I live in an apt. so I don't have a yard in which to host a yard sale. I want to donate it all, but the idea of losing potential money is stressful too. Would love your tips @love_raw_vegan! 1d
  •   clear.space.clear.mind Here they are: 1d
  •   clear.space.clear.mind MINIMIZING STEPS
    1. Take things to Salvation Army
    2. Move furniture so that it suits your needs and you can breathe
    3. Scan paintings and take them to MadeBy or donate/give to friends
    4. Clear out electronics and sell them
    5. Minimize some more. Get rid of makeup, shoes, knick knacks, and art supplies.
    6. Consider taking some things to parents' house that you're not ready to let go so you're not suffocating
    7. Sell stuff on Craigslist that seems worth it. 1d
  •   love_raw_vegan If you're holding onto things you might need to ask yourself why. There might be something you're holding onto subconsciously. When you start letting things go more times than not you are letting old parts of yourself go as well and this can sometimes be scary. I suggest packing up unused items in a box for a few months to see if you can live without them. If you can, when you're ready, just take the box and donate it without rummaging through it again. Hope this helps! 1d
  •   clear.space.clear.mind @love_raw_vegan i love you thank you so much for answering!!! You're my biggest inspiration!!️i will try this. 1d
  •   clear.space.clear.mind @love_raw_vegan ps what are your thoughts on losing money due to it being too time consuming to sell something? 1d
  •   love_raw_vegan Great question! And one I have thought alot about! It honestly depends on where you are at in your life and what your finances look like. At the time I was selling everything I was in a lot of personal debt. Scary! So I couldn't be choosey about how much money I would get for things - I had to try anyways. And I ended up selling 70% of my things over a period of 6 months and was able to pay off a credit card in the process. Now being out of debt and looking back, yes it took a lot of work, but it also took a lot of work putting myself in debt too. Making lasting changes takes work, patience, and time. But it's so well worth it. 8h
  •   clear.space.clear.mind @love_raw_vegan that makes complete sense. I'm not in debt so maybe I can afford to just donate most things. As a full time student with a part time job, selling my things is not exactly a priority at the moment, and keeping things in the corner hoping to sell them one day just adds to my mental clutter for sure. 5h

  •   tinyhome_love We are planning to do this. Have you found a certain species turns out better than others? What about using older reclaimed wood instead of new lumber? 1d
  •   shelterwisespaces we used cedar lap siding here, it takes to burning easily and chars nicely. we would recommend still sealing the wood as proper shou-sugi-ban needs a pretty deep burn to fully protect the wood. this way you can weather proof all sides and ends. should last a good long time! best of luck @tinyhome_love 6h

pinkrosessheila 25/365: Ran out of free full-size photo storage on Google Photos with about 9,700+ photos in 15GB. Not gonna pay money to store photo clutter! Have shaved it down to already 5,600+ today. Came across photos I'd forgotten about, including this one from last summer. One of my faves. Reposting this without the insecurity-driven color border.
