Normal oliviagrca
oliviagrca I was tested for PCOS & #diabetes a few years ago, results were negative for both. But its still a scary thing, that it can just pop up out of nowhere, with a small family history or not. #teamteal #polycysticovarysyndrome #oneday #pcos #supportthem #uswomen #goodnight 35min

The first photo was taken the day after a major low blood sugar seizure. Does a seizure normally make your face look like it has gone through a meat grinder? Not really. But, it does when you slam your head repeatedly into something while you're seizing and no one is sleeping next to you to intervene. Besides the physical effects that I dealt with: pain, a migraine the size of a small continent, inability to use my limbs like I wanted and of course, all the pretty that I brought to the dinner table for others, I was terrified...I didn't know where I was in familiar places, couldn't process information or queries, couldn't articulate and frankly, my brain has never been quite the same since. I became REALLY afraid to go to sleep at night...I insisted on eating tons of food before sleep to ensure high blood sugars, would wake up every three hours to test and exhausted myself to no avail, I still felt terrible all of the time. After years of resistance I finally got on an insulin pump and it did help but it wasn't the cure all that everyone claimed it would be and I still felt like shit. When what I thought was an unrelated opportunity to get in shape came from an old friend I resisted. She told me I was going to have to exercise and drink this crazy shake she drank if I wanted to see results like hers. HUH?! Skeptic and stubborn ass that I was, I told her "thanks, but no thanks" and went back to my way...and gained another 10 pounds. The next time we spoke I even used my diabetes as an excuse..."I can't drink the Kool-Aid you're offering, I have diabetes". When she told me her shake had a low glycemic index and a money back guarantee my interest was finally piqued. After a lot of deliberation I took the leap and got her shakes but refused to exercise.I figured I could have chocolate shakes for the better part of a month and return it and get refunded. Unexpectedly, I lost weight (about 10 lbs) and drastically reduced my insulin instead. I couldn't return it but I still wasn't ready to exercise or eat better than I had been.

  •   tiu_emilygetsfit Wow @linsyleefitness ... I have been through a lot with my Diabetes but I never imagined anything of this horror. You are amazing and all the more inspiring to me now!! You are awesome for taking control of your health. Stay awesome girl 1h
  •   ginaangella This is so good to read especially from one diabetic to another. I used to do the same overeating before bed to avoid the lows which resulted in highs :( I'm going to have to try this. Diabetes can be a real drag but finding something that helps can make all the difference. Sorry you went through all that 59min
  •   linsyleefitness @tiu_emilygetsfit thank you, right back at you! 49min
  •   linsyleefitness @ginaangella it's such a scary way to live and ends up being a dangerous cycle. What changes did you implement to avoid it?I'd be happy to get you more info via email or fb if you'd prefer. While a really rough time for me, I think the whole experience woke me up to changes that had to be made & being so much better now provided a lot of perspective. 37min
  •   ginaangella Up until last year my A1C was 10.5 I know...that's shit!!! I started really counting every single carb and testing constantly. It's definitely gotten better but it's still tenuous. Sometimes I feel completely obsessed with food and eating and counting etc. Yes! I would love more info thru email when you have time. It's ginakennard@gmail.com 30min
  •   mia_ann_b Wow. That is an incredible story. I am a pre-med student and really believe in diet and exercise as medicine. However, these are often ignored in the medical community. In addition, the medical community also is often hyper focused on symptom relief, not treatment of the actual problem. I wish more in the medical community would listen to, read, understand stories like yours. 17min

insulin_addict Conversations with strangers can be so funny sometimes. I will casually mention things like having a kid and I get double-takes and hilarious reactions..."You have a kid? How old? SEVEN?! How old are YOU? 26? I thought you were way younger!" ... when i say "my husband" : "You're married? How old are you?... How long have you been together? Wow, high school sweethearts?!" and don't get me started on the "i have diabetes" convos ... some are funny, some not so much lol #lmao #randomconversations #hellostranger #lol #ilookyoung #livingafulllife #momlife #marriedlife #diabeticlife #collegegrad #mylifestory #fullofsurprises #lifeofadiabetic #lifeofaworkingmom #diabetic #diabetes #ageisjustanumber #wifelife #dontjudgeabookbyitscover #youdontknowmystory #lookscanbedeceiving #howdoiactmyage? #funnymoments 44min

jupitertank_fit A short term #transformation but a very important point in my life. This only goes back to May of this year, but it shows the difference between a restricted diet and a macro diet. I'm not saying results don't happen with a restricted diet. Obviously they do, I stepped on stage three times prepping that way. The question is why put your mind and body through that stress? There is a better way to do it. A more consistent way to do it. Most of all, a more enjoyable way to do it. Macros may seem confusing, a different language even. Let me try and explain if you are interested. My email is in the pic, the location, and my profile. Let me help, if help is what you need. One of the best decisions I have made for my health and fitness.

peaceandgreens I chopped up some organic apples and organic pears for participants of the YMCA's #Diabetes Prevention Program to enjoy during our session tonight. I love meeting with them and can't wait to see all the positive diet and lifestyle changes that they'll make throughout the program. I am honored to be a part of their incredible journey. Cheers to good health, lots of happiness, and healthy, delicious food! 55min
