danielfooddiary Good morning! Springing back to action with French Toast at the Oberstrasse (since I am renewing my passport at ICA just opposite). Oberstrasse is a common street name in German speaking Europe towns. It means Upper(Ober) Street(strasse). Food wise, Still a little rough on the edges. Owner talking about changing ingredients next table. Lol.

Where should I go next?

danielfooddiary The $4 million dollar wait is over. For those who didn't read the news previously, Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint was sold off for $4 million dollars!

Will I see that kind of money in my bank this lifetime? I hope.
It retained its signature style – smoky slightly burnt on the edges, caramelised, sweetly honey glazed, good proportion of lean meat and fats (actually quite guiltily fatty), and very tender. Almost perfect when dipped with the brownish duck sauce and pinkish sweet chilli sauce.

But their duck can't quite make it.

danielfooddiary While I liked the concept of Day & Night, food didn’t taste as good as I remembered it to be.
Case in point, the Bismark Pizza ($18) which came with an ugly overcooked egg and burnt edges. :( http://danielfooddiary.com/2015/02/23/dayandnight/

danielfooddiary Compiling my list of new cafés for March, and made my way to TVoila - a tea cafe with pastries.

The uncle was nice in serving me, asking for feedback, despite him wearing a very ugly uniform. He was trying, really trying.
There are times when I feel officially tired, and that I don't want to do this anymore. This is one of those times. I must have visited 100plus cafés over the last few months, and yes, I do get tired, actually very tired.
Then I see uncle again, then I get some inspiration to move on. If he can do it, so can I.
Why do people open cafés despite knowing the rate of success is going to be very low?
To fulfill a dream?
I guess what I can do is to maybe help the good ones be more known, and help fulfill their dreams.
Sorry for the rant.

danielfooddiary The Seafood Gochujang Risotto ($24) was a near faultless marriage of Korean red pepper paste sauce, with Italian Risotto, cooked with juicy shrimps, black mussel, clam, squid in a thick creamy sauce.

Its colour was in a gorgeous dark hued orangey-red, taste well-balanced between the two. Who would imagine?

danielfooddiary Inspired by the cocoa beans and chocolate cafes found in the Republic of Ecuador and conceptualised in Singapore, Cocoa Colony is the latest chocolate café (could be the only) to launch locally. The café serves cocoa beverages, crafted chocolate bars and lava flowing hot chocolate sauce. Mainly for takeaways, though there are four seats.

danielfooddiary Thank you to friends who pander to my cravings for a hotpot last minute.

I am really the spontaneous "Let's Go!" kind of person. Thus, I will go sometimes anywhere for food.

Few friends can be patient for me to finish shooting, plus I would almost insist on videos and white tables (lol), which does take a longer time.
But seeing those sliced meats cook in the hot soup, is different from just a picture.

Anyway, Beauty In A Pot is goooood! My 2nd fav now.

danielfooddiary Nunsongyee 눈송이 Not Cheon Song Yi 천송이

The shop's signature dessert is the Snow Flake Black Sesame 흑임자 빙수 and Injeolmi Bingsu 인절미 빙수 Bingsu ($14.90). Their versions of bingsu are made of milk, and is so smooth.
Watch the video, and maybe other than the snowflakes, your heart will melt too.

danielfooddiary Once a year affair to go to the River Ang Bao, walked through plenty of street stalls (which were selling almost the same things - deep fried foods of all kinds), got to the festive spirit, too hot too crowded, and ended up with a Prosperity Burger. lol. 1w

danielfooddiary Basil satay prawns with salted egg yolk. Half hits, half misses. Seafood could have been fresher. A pity, I do like this restaurant's offerings. 1w

danielfooddiary Showing some support for Ah Ben @benyeo23 's new venture at OneKM.
TenderFresh has come a long way, from a Coffeeshop stall selling fried chicken and cutlets with rice, to the present chain of outlets.
They have several items on the menu, this is the Sambal Chicken set with fries. Crisp and juicy, personable good service too.

(We usually say “Gin Khao Reu Yang?” to ask “Have you eaten?”) A bountiful feast! Of course I aim for the Tom Yum Chicken Wings first. Aroy mak mak!
