sethfrazer137 "Stealing from God: Why Atheists Need God to Make Their Case"
One of the books I'm currently reading. VERY insightful. The idea is basically raising the question: "What if your best reason to doubt God proves that he exists?"
When you think about it, The atheistic way of going about it asserts that there is no truth(to kill off religion),everything is a matter of perception(to kill off faith),& everything is material(to kill off the supernatural.)
Answer this:
-If there is no truth, how could you possibly conclude that?
-If everything is perception, what makes you so sure of that?
-If everything is material, please explain thoughts & laws (lemme use an example from the book that I found pretty hard to dismantle without adopting philosophies behind faith: I want you to picture a 2-ton pink elephant with giant ears, razor-sharp tusks, & an extremely long trunk. Are you picturing it? Ok...now...if I decide to be a psycho & bust your head open with a sledgehammer, is that giant, pink elephant going to appear out of thin-air? No? So how can thoughts be material rather than immaterial?)
Just in those three points alone, truth, faith, & immaterial(supernatural)are still kept alive even in the process of denying the existence of all three. All of this doesn't necessarily mean God is true.
But, if Atheism is true, nothing can be true...& that's just impossible & pretty self-defeating. It cancels itself out by it's own standard.
This isn't meant to persecute you as an atheist(ex: "stupid idiots are going to hell cuz they can't see how blind they are to obvious truth.")All this does is it encourages you, as an Atheist, to use the same standard on yourself that you wish others would just use in their way of thinking & interpreting things. Your focus should always be MUCH more directed at why you're right, not why everyone else is so wrong. Yes? You're just as free to deny the existence of God, just as I am free enough to embrace it. Personally, I just don't have enough faith to believe in a standard that, basically, corners me into believing that the universe CREATED (creation? God?)me&everything else around me.That, someday,"science" will discover the uncaused first cause.

  •   alexisnicole312 Bad science? Like what? Science in it's definition requires facts and empirical evidence. Bad science is sort of like a paradox 3h
  •   mark_s_phillips Glad you are enjoying the book. Looking forward to your discussion of the law of noncontradiction. 3h
  •   dothedev The only claim atheism makes is, in essence, "I don't believe you". Nothing more. Theists propose the existence of some being, and my response is I don't believe you, until, of course, I am presented with credible evidence otherwise. @sethfrazer137 BTW, Einstein was a deist, not a theist. He believed in Spinoza's god (meaning the universe is god). 2h
  •   sethfrazer137 @dothedev Ok...first off, I wanna say thank you for reading everything here before jumping to conclusion :) Now, well buddy...it sounds to me like the ideas "there is no truth", "everything is perception", & "everything is material (what I can feel)" branches off "I Don't Believe You." However, "I don't believe you" kinda sounds like the point I'm making here. In other words, it's more of why I'm wrong, not why you're right. Why are you right man? Also, if you're open to credible evidence that would convince you otherwise...you'd believe in God at that point yes? Since the doors open, why aren't you an agnostic? Unless you simply have a philosophical bias that kinda rules God out in advance, it doesn't sound like you'd have much business being an atheist at this point. And, I know Einstein wasn't a theist. I just like his quote on how science & religion intertwine & open doors for each other (part of the point I'm making here also.) 55min
  •   sethfrazer137 @alexisnicole312 bad science...say, for instance, the Big Bang theory...the idea of spontaneous outburst or everything falling into precise design & order cause by nothing (talk about faith.) This, basically, asserts that effects create causes...which TOTALLY contradicts the Law of Causality. But, a lot of atheists stand on it & assert it to be hardcore scientific facts (which isn't even based on experience...since science is supposedly what we experience.) 51min
  •   sethfrazer137 @screamingmyemotions believe me man, it doesn't disrespect atheists. It quotes a lot of devout atheists & skeptics & really dissects their work. It says that they're intelligent people with interesting takes on stuff. But, Frank makes it clear how much he disagrees with their views & gives a pretty good case that seems pretty solid 49min
  •   sethfrazer137 @mark_s_phillips it talks about noncontradiction :) I think in the chapter about Reason. Really nips religious pluralism in the bud 47min
  •   triplesix_nigga @sethfrazer137 after reading your first response to @dothedev when it comes to disbelief in god and basically also being open to the existence of it there's no need to be agnostic about it for that purpose. The same reason you're not agnostic about the tooth fairy or the loch Ness monster. You're a firm disbeliever until there is viable reason to believe in the existence of both. People will just normally take the rationally substantiated side of saying that they disbelieve in god, however given proper evidence could be convinced otherwise. Because to firmly say " There is no god whatsoever end of story" is not consistent rationality. However, this doesn't therefore mean the existence or non existence of god is 50/50, so there is no need to abstain judgement like an agnostic. Whether god exists or not would be definition be indeed knowable. So again one can stand in firm disbelief, However if you are a really rational person you could never say this doesn't exist at all. But that doesn't mean it has equal opportunity to exist or non exist. 11min

bi_feminist_atheist For you creationists who don't know, the definition of evidence is: concrete, verifiable information that either supports or disproves a claim. Your bible is NOT evidence for a claim, it IS the claim. 5h

godlessmindss I cannot stand Christians like this. The one's who have their head jammed so far up their arrogant asses that they prance around atheist pages with that "I'm right about everything I say" attitude. This guy @brad_co2015 has the reasoning and intelligence of a toddler, this is under his 2nd post. Try not to die laughing at his arrogant ignorance. 12h
