_megan_steward_ It honestly just breaks my heart looking through all of these photos from the tornado at cherrystone. Thankfully my family wasn't there that week, but we could've been. It was my home away from home since I was a month old. We've been through storms and hailstorms before while we were there but nothing as bad as this. My heart goes out to those that were injured and the children that lost their parents and brother. Not to down play on the deaths but the tornado could've been a lot worse than this. Sorry Mother Nature but you're not keeping me away from cherrystone, I'm definitely going back next summer! #cherrystone #cherrystonestrong #tornado 2d

kehostetter_fit4muscles The week from hell is coming to a close. Thankfully, I've realized that family is what truly gets you through the hard times in life. Just be sure to tell everyone you love as often as you can, as we leaned in the middle of that tornado, a life can be taken so quickly. The famous quote of, "as one door closes, another opens," couldn't be more meaningful for me! Thank to everyone for all their love and support these past few days #tornado #campground #cherrystonecampground #cherrystone #life #quote #quotes #lifegoeson #lifewillneverbethesame #love #sad #moveon #truth 2d

ed_mattia On Thursday morning I got a phone call from my aunt saying that my family was hit by a tornado in the camper. No damage was done to our camper or our boat. The only thing that happened was we lost our awning. During the storm a tree fell down inches from our camper. I'm thankful that my entire family made it out okay. My prayers go out to all of the other families that can't say the same thing. #cherrystone #virginia #tornado 3d

kehostetter_fit4muscles Thursday morning at 8:30, this F1 tornado whipped through Cherrystone Campground. We were staying here for vacation. The tornado lasted less than five minutes, but the damage will be everlasting. 150 feet wide, with hail the size of baseballs, and lasted for a distance of 8 miles through the campground. I've never seen anything like this other than movies and tv. You never think that it could be you as the victim. We were scared for our lives. Unfortunately, a few people lost their lives, and many were injured. While this could have been even more tragic in ripping through a campground of homes not built to with stand Mother Nature to this extent, we are all very lucky and thankful to be alive. Thoughts and prayers go out to friends and family of those who lost their lives. In case anyone from neighboring towns sees this, we want to thank all emergency personnel, as well as all the volunteers. They opens a school and bused out the entire campground to the shelter where everyone hung out for the duration of the day. We were given so much support, help, good, water, and so much more we can't even describe. It was truly amazing to see a community of compete strangers at the campground come together to rescue those trapped, as well as those helping out all of the victims. Thank you too all! #tornado #f1 #campground #cherrystone #vacation #life #help #support #nofilter #sad #lifewillneverbethesame #family #news #resuce 4d
