jaynemansfielddaily In 1957, Jayne and Mickey began discussing living the rest of their lives together. She desperately wanted to marry him but studio executives were strongly opposed to it. They believed that a marriage would ruin her career and carefully built-up image. Jayne and Mickey had to live in separate homes and pretend that they were dating instead of having serious plans to spend the rest of their lives together. Jayne also had to agree to studio arranged dates with the likes of Robert Wagner and Hugh O'Brian. When she was coerced into doing her next film Kiss Them For Me, Mickey was not allowed to travel with her to the shooting location of San Francisco. She missed Mickey very much, but she was also very excited to work with Cary Grant. She later said of him: "He is one of the most marvelous men I've ever met. A gracious co-star who sent me little gifts everyday to cheer me up. He knew how much I missed Mickey and he understood." | #jaynemansfield #carygrant 12h
  •   marlonbrandofans Once again stuff like what happened here is why I hate how the studios got involved with the personal lives of stars. Such control freaks I might add 12h
  •   jaynemansfielddaily @marlonbrandofans They were a really controlling and disgusting group of people. The stuff that they would do to their stars is shameful. It's really sad that these people had to deal with it 12h
  •   beataholic925 I call them the mafia! At least Jayne wasn't the only star they tried to control... plus I think Jayne helped break down rules that set for modern day like having a family and taking the kids with her on location. 11h
  •   jaynemansfielddaily @beataholic925 That's exactly what they're like! I think for the most part she tried her best to not be controlled. She married Mickey anyways and also had kids even though they didn't want her to. Judy Garland is the best example I can think of when it comes to being "controlled" by a studio. The things they did to her was atrocious. 10h
  •   beataholic925 I thought of Judy while writing that comment, even considered including her as an example but decided not to. Ingrid Bergman was shamed away when she left her husband and daughter for a director, pregnant. 10h

classic_splendor Well well well...I've decided to start the #OHFunChallenge // { Day 1: Favorite actor } Cary Grant "Do not blame others for your own mistakes. YOU are Mother Nature. You have the power within you to be thin or fat, as you desire. God is within you, and you can do and have anything you want. You must love yourself more and then...you can love your fellow man." ~Cary Grant. "I suppose you might call me the sophisticated type. I like to act with dialogue. Not with grunts." ~Cary Grant. 13h
