filmtrivia Pierce Brosnan @piercebrosnanofficial and Liam Neeson both said in the DVD featurette they had the most fun in their careers making this film. They both loved westerns growing up as kids in Ireland and were happy to finally get a chance to be in one◆ Neeson said (the stars aligned for two Irish boys who grew up worshipping Cowboys who were now getting to play Cowboys). Richard Gere was originally cast as Gideon (Pierce Brosnan's character) but dropped out three weeks before shooting to do the 2007 film (The Flock)◆ Neeson likened his character (Colonel Morsman Carver) to Captain Ahab in (Moby-Dick)◆ The key to Anjelica Huston's role can be found on the back of her wagon. It isn't on screen very long, but the name of her character - as painted on the back of her wagon - explains who she is and what she's doing there◆ The story takes place in the late 1860s following the American Civil War◆ Filming on location took 48 days, primarily in New Mexico◆ Some of the opening scenes were filmed along the McKenzie River in Oregon◆ Pierce Brosnan's character is onscreen for the first 13 minutes and doesn't say one word◆
Wes Studi portrays (Charon). Wes is best known for playing (Magua) in 1992's (The Last of the Mohicans)◆

  •   filmtrivia Director (David Von Ancken) started off as a television director and screenwriter. Some of his credits on television include Oz, Without a Trace, Numb3rs, The Shield, Heroes, Gossip Girl, CSI: NY, Cold Case, Hell on Wheels and The Vampire Diaries● Seraphim Falls was David's feature film directorial debut◆ He researched the script for 6 months before joining screenwriter (Abby Everett Jaques) to create the screenplay◆ Oscar winning cinematographer (John Toll) was brought on for cinematography on this film. Toll is best known for (Legends of the Fall), (Braveheart) & (The Thin Red Line)◆ Due to the fact that the film literally starts in the mountains during the winter and goes into the hot desert towards the end,  Toll said it was a "great opportunity and experience to work with a director who was interested in visual storytelling◆ The sunset shown about 47 minutes into the film, when Gideon descends the mountain, was also featured in the final shot of the 2006 film (The Astronaut Farmer)◆Both films were in production in New Mexico at the same time, though many miles apart. 2d
  •   filmtrivia Seraphim literally translates to "burning ones". In theology the name Seraphim refers to a type of angel. Therefore, one could conclude the 2 main characters are angels that have fallen from grace◆ They battle each other from the mountain tops (Heaven) to the hot desert (Hell)◆
Seraphim are divine creatures from the Old Testament, associated with the Cherubim, and later taken to be angels. The root of Seraphim comes either from the Hebrew verbsaraph ('to burn') or the Hebrew noun saraph (a fiery, flying serpent)◆
Because the term appears several times with reference to the serpents encountered in the wilderness, it has often been understood to refer to "fiery serpents." From this it has also often been proposed that the seraphim were serpentine in form and in some sense "fiery" creatures or associated with fire. 2d
