naturephotoportal @shon_reed with this marvelous Ferruginous Hawk is our pic of the day. It's a Buteo. Buteo's are a wonderful species and I love them all my life. This one is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen! 1h

kristafeather Shoot two birds with one camera! Featuring @s4gehawk and Shadow, the #greathornedowl. And me and Tarkah, the #harrishawk.
Birds of prey cannot be housed or set near each other unless they are of the same species. These two birds coexist in the same habitat - Arizona down to South America - but during the night, the owl might take the hawk for prey, and in the daytime, the hawk might take the owl for prey. So to be safe - even tho they've been working together for years - we keep them separate.
PROTIP : follow @s4gehawk for more falconry goodness. She'll be getting her first #redtailedhawk soon!
