foodbaby_bne Silly me left booking a restaurant for my sister and my birthday dinner on Saturday night until the last minute and most places were booked out. Luckily we were able to secure a table at The Euro.
The staff were very friendly, however there mustn't have been enough people on because it took more than half an hour for anyone to take our orders and a few times we found ourselves with empty wine glasses for a while and not able to top them up ourselves as the bottles are not kept at the table. When you are paying those kind of prices, you expect attentive service and unfortunately we didn't receive it that night.
My entree was Gold Coast tiger prawns with grilled radicchio, jamon, smoked beurre blanc and amaranth. I wasn't really a fan of this dish. The prawns were not whole, but just six small pieces. The smoked beurre blanc didn't have much flavour and the amaranth didn't add anything except a bit of a gritty texture. Personally, I think either finger lime or salmon roe would have been better in place of the amaranth as either of these would have complimented the prawns and added varying levels of flavour to this subdued dish.
We also ordered the calamari which was very tasty, but the presentation was lacking because it was just put in a bowl with nothing else.
