rhino18181 @Regrann from @amivitale - Photo by @amivitale. Bedtime for Ringo, a baby Southern White rhino at Kenya’s Ol Pejeta Conservancy (@olpejeta). Ringo was abandoned by his mother at birth, and with only 5,500 black rhinos left in the world, every individual must be protected. The team at Ol Pejeta works hard to keep all wildlife safe and is now the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. You can support their work by visiting this magical place.

pao_vamp @Regrann from @disunitythefilm - LoFo (Lost and Found) Age: +- 8 months Petronel Nieuwoudt received a call regarding a rhino calf that had been seen wondering alone in the KNP without his mother (who had sadly been poached). The calf was alone in the bush for 5 days before being found in the Satara region of KNP! Field ranger Lisbeth Mathebula, and sectional field ranger Marius Renke, assisted in the rescue operation (with the help of their dog, Frik, who was “first in command”). Veterinarian Dr Markus Hoffmeyer and the CFW team went to collect him from Kruger, and he was finally brought in on the 10th of February. However, LoFo arrived in terrible condition! He has a wound from a piece of wood that pierced his front right leg as he was running through the bush, and two deep cuts on his back from a machete as the poachers attempted to break his spine! When he arrived he was dehydrated, stressed, and in a severe state of shock. Both his temperature and blood glucose levels were low as a result of the shock. He was treated for the dehydration, given fluids, and his wounds were flushed and cleaned thoroughly. Overnight his breathing stabilised and by the following morning he had begun to settle and show signs of hunger. Later that morning, he began drinking milk from the bottle. Once the effects of his shock had subsided and he began drinking readily, his body temperature returned to normal and his blood glucose level increased! After two days of being at CFW, drinking over 2 liters of milk (every 3 hours) with fluids and electrolytes between feeds, LoFo is now much more calm. He is drinking milk on a regular schedule and is having his wounds cleaned on a regular basis. LoFo will be moved into a larger boma ASAP as his condition has improved significantly! #whiterhino #disunitythefilm #wildlife #wildafrica #southafrica #careforwild #notjustanotherrhinofilm #babyrhino #extinction #CITES #endangered #loveone_project #Regrann 16h

Orphaned baby rhino Mabush was in a terrible state when he was brought to @careforwild After witnessing his mother being poached, he stayed by her side for a week. He kept himself alive by drinking her blood. This is what baby rhinos go through. The good news is, Mabush is fine now and thriving. After love, care, bottles of milk, and two best friends, the volunteers call him "One happy chappie." Be part of Mabush's life. Stay in touch with all his progress. Credit: @babyrhinorescue
