katatieelizabeth Since today is World Thyroid Day, I decided to post this little rant... The past year I haven't posted really anything fitness-related. And that's because I knew something was wrong with my body, but everything was coming back "normal." I was busting my butt only to see counteractive results. I was gaining weight... and not the weight that you want to gain when you lift weights. I was extremely disappointed and discouraged. Thankfully, earlier this year, a doctor finally found out that I tested positive for thyroid antibodies. Hashimoto's Disease is a chronic condition where antibodies attacks your thyroid, and it affects so many aspects of your body and overall well-being. I have been ashamed to post pictures of my body because it doesn't look like it did two years ago. I'm sure people will think "nothing is wrong with your body" or "you look fine" or "what are you complaining about," but I can't put into words how much it hurts to work so hard and see negative results. I have neglected my fitness the past few months, and it's been so hard trying to get back into it when you see no progress and feel so weak that you don't have half of the endurance or strength that you did a year or two ago, but during my workout today, I saw a little glimmer of hope. A little muscle definition that I realized I have achieved over the past couple of years, regardless of how small it is, it's something. And I realized something else: with a chronic condition, especially something like Hashimoto's that affects you both physically and mentally, you can't focus on the negative. Fighting a chronic condition requires a positive mindset. Focus on what you can accomplish given your circumstances, and do your best to ignore the shortcomings that you cannot control because getting upset over something you have no control over is so harmful to yourself. fitnesswheysted Glute day I use to do "leg day" and not break it down into glutes, hamstrings ect. & that's something I regret! This week I started with 2-3 leg days a week, focusing on hamstrings and today glutes! Cable kick backs are a new workout I'm incorporating & I love them!
