Normal anette_fredsdatter_heidal
anette_fredsdatter_heidal There is something both magical and majestical about glaciers. They completely entrap my imagination. My heart always skips a beat at the sight of one. They dazzle me. The many shades of blue. I once held a lump of ice from Vatnajökull. The ice had slowly been pushed into the waters of a small lagoon on the south-west coast called Jökulsárlón. Our guide told us that the ice that we all held in turn was composed of the snow that fell over Iceland when the first Vikings arrived on the island, more than a thousand years ago. Such a small piece of seemingly insignificant ice, yet such an enormous perspective on history. What looks like a snow covered mountain in this picture is a small glimpse of the glacier Folgefonna in Norway. It was gloomy when we passed, but suddenly it lit up, brightly and briefly, as if to say hello. #folgefonna #norway #glacier #light 3h
