meatcooler My #venusflytrap is flowering. I have only seen this twice, and once they didn't open. Any info is appreciated. #californiacarnivores #plantswithbite #carnivorous #flytrap @thesquatjedi @thecarnivoregirl @california_carnivores 2d
  •   thesquatjedi I bet @youknowsbenny could help. 2d
  •   thecarnivoregirl @meatcooler what do you need info on? 2d
  •   meatcooler Well the plant itself looks kind of weak right now....is that because it's flowering? Also it seems crowded in its little pot, what is the best medium for repotting? 2d
  •   meatcooler How often do they flower ? 2d
  •   thecarnivoregirl @meatcooler yes, flowering saps lots of energy from the plant. It's recommended to cut the flower stalk early unless you want to pollinate them and collect seeds. Repotting medium should be pure peat moss or long fibered sphagnum moss mixed with equal parts silica sand or perlite. They usually flower in early spring, and how often depends on the age and genetics of the plant. Hope that was helpful! 2d
  •   meatcooler @thecarnivoregirl yes, thanks for replying! I will post a picture after it's been re-potted, as a pic now won't do it any justice. 2d
