grandpa_batman Very cool to see a DKR reference in Batman: Year 100 (written and drawn by Paul Pope) in which the strange sightings of a bat-like creature stirs up the local GCPD and Federal authorities after the death of a Federal agent. Cpt. Jim Gordon, grandson of Commissioner James Gordon, must find out who or what this Bat-person is. Examining GCPD's records pulls up limited information of the mythical Batman, like this footage from 1986. It couldn't possibly be the same person in 2039, or could it? I have a theory. #batman #batmanyear100 #darkknightreturns #paulpope #frankmiller #thedarkknightreturns #gotham #gothamcity #GCPD #thebatman #darkknight #jimgordon #thebatforce #cultofthebatman #nowikineeded 1mon
  •   nassahdeys What's your theory? 1mon
  •   grandpa_batman @nassahdeys it relates to @ssnyder1835's "Twenty-Seven" story in the special edition Detective Comics #27 from August 2014. 1mon
  •   kinga55 I know this one is on IGN top 25 but I haven't picked it up. I just bought it, thanks for the push! 1mon
  •   the_allen_ridge I've been meaning to read this! Haven't gotten around to it yet 1mon
  •   grandpa_batman @kinga55 awesome. Let me know what you think. @the_allen_ridge I think you'll like it 1mon
  •   grandpa_batman @angelgyuck yeah...I love titles like this that get your mind thinking instead of just laying everything out there so obvious. 1mon
  •   angelgyuck Yeah something you can get lost in its nice @grandpa_batman 1mon
  •   kinga55 @grandpa_batman I finished the book at the end of last week. It may be in my top five, honestly. Great little conspiracy and everything about Batman when he's at his best; allies, detective work, and some serious theatrics/dominance in combat! 4w

Normal Archivist of The Dark Knight
historyofthebatman 'Master of the Universe: Batman in Elseworlds' - #6: Batman of the Future:

There has always been a clear fascination with Batman featured in futuristic tales, from science and space exploration to seeing how this hero is thriving in the distant future. A popular media example being the 'Batman Beyond' television series and comics. In early 2006, Paul Pope and José Villarrubia created a four issue story arc (Pope and Villarrubia's cover art to issue 4 presented) exploring who would take up the mantle as Batman in 'Batman: Year 100'. It is the year 2039 and the government's intel through all technology is extremely advance, yet they can't hold any information on a vigilante called 'Batman'. When a federal agent is killed, the GCPD have eyes on the mysterious masked man believing he is the murderer. With Robin, his adopted son who occasionally maintains and updates the Batmobile, which in this case is a motorcycle, by his side, the Batman maintains his persona off the grid of this future police state. Knowing this, Captain James Gordon (the Commissioner's grandson) is on the hunt for the real killer with the hopeful help this era's Dark Knight. By itself, Year 100's illustrations have the grit and grime of a classic detective Batman from the golden age, yet presents a possible future Gotham that can relate to our out of universe age of tech. The trade paperback of 'Batman: Year 100' includes Paul Pope's story originally from The Batman Chronicles 11 (Dec. 1998) called "The Berlin Batman". Set in 1938 Germany, Baruch Wayne stops Nazis before the break of World War II, reflecting on how he became the Dark Knight. Whether in 1938 or 2039, we can see our hero represent the same values and acts of justice no matter what time period. "Batman: Year 100"

"Wiseman closed his mouth. Madman closed his fist. Young man shows his age. Judge man named it sin. Bad man don't exist, no, no evil man exists. Good man don't exist, no, no righteous man exists. Sad man cannot cry in place where man can see. Never witnessed his father weep, this old man thought it weak. But strong man don't exist, no undying man exists. Weak man don't exist, no, just flesh and blood exists." •
