lerako Lemurs, one of the many wonders unique to the island of #madagascar. This is a common brown #lemur i photographed in the Mantandia National Park, a few hours out of the main town. After 12years away it felt so good to be back and photograph these unique critters. Lemurs are amongst the most endangered primates in the world due to habitat destruction and, for some species, hunting. I am glad i had my new @canonaustralia #eos #7dmkii and my 300 L to cope with the low light of the #rainforest. #wildlife #wildlifephotography #adventure #redisland #andasibe #mantandia #conservation #green #rsa_nature @canon_photos @canonofficiel #travel #light @goexplorewander #animaux #nature @exclusive_animals #exclusive_animals #allnatureshots 4d

  •   sputnikboy Great shot but this is not an aye aye. It looks more like a bamboo lemur to me... 1w
  •   thorley1990 @sputnikboy Aye, I wasn't sure if it was or not. Cheers for the clarification ;) Where are the Aye Aye then? 1w
  •   thorley1990 @sputnikboy Ok. Doubt I'll have time to fit in in but I'll see. 1w
  •   sputnikboy They are spread in Mada but your best bet is in Nosy Mangabe, an island near Masoala NP. AyeAye is rare and nocturnal, consider yourself VERY lucky if you spot one. 1w

thorley1990 All hot and sweaty here in Madagascar! This morning I was up at 5am and went trekking in the rainforest with a highly knowledgeable guide in search of 100% wild Lemurs, endemic to Madagascar. It was nothing short of awesome! Having them just 10 metres above me, making their deafening calls and watching them jump from tree to tree was breathtaking! Then this afternoon I decided to walk to the Vakona Forest Lodge where they have canoe trips in the nearby canals and you can stop off at small islands along the way where families of Lemurs live. These Lemurs actually use to be pets so they are tame. So it's good that you can have Lemurs within a metre of you. The Lemurs are well looked after, not encaged at all. Free to live naturally on the little island. It was fun but it didn't compare to trekking in the reserve this morning and seeing 100 % wild Lemurs in their natural environment going about their daily business. Photo is of me as I managed to hitch a ride on a pick-up 4x4 back from Vakona to the village of Andasibe. #Madagascar #Lemurs #VakonaForestLodge #Andasibe #Andasibenationalpark #africa #backpackingafrica #backpacking #travelling #travel #offthebeatentrack #hitchhiking #fujifilmxm1 1w
