catholicstudentspage How many times has this happened to you? It's so important to listen to God, as you go through your day. We have a subconscious--reason-- for a purpose. This is one if the ways God communicates to us. If you feel the need to ask someone what's wrong, give advice, help someone etc don't ever question it! If you feel led to do something, don't let fear hold you back from accomplishing Christ's task! When God asks you why you didn't help that person, what would you say? That you were too scared? Unacceptable. You are strong, and capable because of Christ, He lives in you baby! Go out, and be the good in the world! #defendthefaith #volunteer #goodworks #faith #catholic #catolico #catholicmemes #catholicchurch #catholicnerdsunite #gratefulheart #jesus #jesusisbae #christian #christ #god #heaven #angels #saints #adamsandler #bigdaddy 9h

thefilmsiveseen Film: Punch-Drunk Love

Director: Paul Thomas Anderson

I've seen Punch-Drunk Love several times, and with each viewing, I pick up on something new. We get to see Adam Sandler in a mostly dramatic role, a nice refresher from his usual overly-ridiculous man-child persona. Here, he portrays Barry Egan, a nervous, quiet small business owner, who manages a warehouse of shoddy products. He seems to be the type of person that got talked into the job as part of a pyramid scheme by someone who took advantage of his innocence and naivety. Barry, we understand, grew up being constantly picked on by his multiple sisters, and as a result, has learned to suppress his anger until it bursts out of him in explosive fits. He is also lonely, as we see in a scene where he calls a phone sex line and has a conversation that is so uncomfortably awkward, it draws out nervous laughter from us. They have his credit card information, and are running a scheme of their own, harassing Barry and threatening to take more of his money. Barry is also running a scheme of his own, but it's so brilliant, I'll let you discover it for yourself. In the meantime, one of his sisters sets him up on a date with a charming woman, and he falls in love. The phone sex line people will not leave him alone, which pushes him to a breaking point. Anderson shoots the movie in beautiful tones, capturing reflections of light, and using old-fashioned pan-outs and dissolves to his advantage. The dialogue is wonderfully written and delivered. Sandler has a beautiful line in here that I feel on a personal level: "I don't know if there's anything wrong with me, because I don't know how other people are." This entire film is a curious character study, played brilliantly by Sandler. It's a character only he could play, and brings forth talent from him that I would love to see more of, rather than his continuous downslide of what he refers to as "comedies". I would classify this movie as a comedy, albeit a much more intellectual comedy than he's known for.
