valkswagen Wow the future seems quite immortal...if you want it to ofc ;) The general concept of personalized medecine is to use genetic, protein, metabolic, microbiotic analysises to determine health risks and take specific, preventative measures rather than attempting to treat the already-ill-nearly-expired patients. I find this approach very exciting vs the current one-size-fits-all practice in the medical field, which leaves many as zombies or better yet, dead. Technology's increasing progress will hopefully achieve the high accuracy and accessibility of these methods to most (smart phones will be a necessity). The optimist in me is in awe bc we should all be able to thrive and reach our potential; however, the consequences of longevity are terrifying...so we need not to forget to fulfill our respectful duties in the name of Mother Earth (clean up our mess)...and the universe (cease overexploitation of resources), for that matter.

Pardon my monkey-mind sentence structure haha, but any thoughts?

  •   raghd_alolabi I love the idea of personalized medicine. Genetic testing is becoming more and more affordable to the average person. You can get your SNP sequences identified for only $99! Doctors are beginning to use this data to understand their patients' individual conditions and coming up with treatment plans that specifically target their issues. However, the current rate of population growth deems it impossible for humans to live sustainably under such high resource demands. I feel like the ethicality of this issue is very difficult to approach. We want to advance medicine but at the same time we want to at least slow the rate of anthropogenic impact on the environment. 1w
  •   adriancrook Great stuff. 1w
  •   valkswagen @raghd_alolabi you said it! The author also briefly mentioned how this probably won't catch on with everyone, as we already have an idea of what seems to ail/help us yet are still reluctant to change our lifestyles...and personalized medicine will require even more effort on the individual's part. Still I'm all for the environment, but humans won't voluntarily stop advancing, so I'm super curious to see the outcome of this and hope we can make it all work somehow! Perhaps the mission to Mars is very much needed... Definitely thought provoking. 1w

Last visit to Paris was spent getting lost in the city only to fortify my mental map and *drum roll plz* fall in love. Initially wanted to witness one of the many grèves (strikes) taking place, but ain't nobody touch them beautiful gardens/woods, which I was hopping from...and good thing bc I ended up with abundant excitement within the peace anyway!
