urchincreature Found (not in use) yesterday. I love the attention the bird has paid to making the nest just so. Moss woven in with gossamer on the sides, soft flat leaves crossed over the base. It's wonderful. If anyone knows the bird species this might be, please say! #stanthorpelyfe 2d

urchincreature I'm teaching myself oils. With no linseed oil in the mix, at this early stage, it feels like I'm painting with permanent markers - making it hard to get a smooth tonal gradient. Also, a bigger paintbrush would be nice. #artistproblems #oceanwilsonart 2d

urchincreature I don't think I can take much more of this. #janeausten #prideandprejudice 1w
  •   aestheticpleasure It's a brilliant novel. But if it's not your thing it's not your thing. To each their own. 1w
  •   urchincreature @aestheticpleasure I have tried so very hard to like this book, but cannot. Alas! 1w
  •   aestheticpleasure The language is very different to the English we speak today, so maybe it's just difficult to get into. 1w
  •   urchincreature @aestheticpleasure It's not the language that I find difficult. For me, it's the content that I find boring, even though Austen is fairly witty at times. A few minutes after I begin to read, I wish I was reading Dostoyevsky or Wilde or Melville or Woolf or...almost anything else! Has that ever happened to you while reading? 1w
  •   aestheticpleasure Of course. :) Reading is obviously really personal, and we all have different tastes. It's perfectly okay. In saying that though it's important to try to be as open as possible and read as many kinds of fiction as possible. I like to think that I can read anything as long as it's good, the contents not really mattering if it is well done. 1w
  •   urchincreature @aestheticpleasure You tried any Tolstoy? To me, it seems exquisitely written, but describes very mundane subject matter. 1w
  •   aestheticpleasure @urchincreature Yes absolutely. He's my favorite. War & Peace I read just recently and Anna Karenina is probably my all time favorite novel. 1w
  •   urchincreature @aestheticpleasure I admire your ability to enjoy all kinds of books! :) 1w
