upekkha Here's another shot of my favourite bird of prey. I'm lucky to have the Red Kite (Milvus milvus) in abundance where I live. This wasn't my favourite of the set, but it was the only one that fitted into the square properly 5d

upekkha Another iPhone shot, here's Glastonbury Tor in all it's glory. Managed to get a photo or two without any people in it?!! 2w

upekkha Here's an iPhone shot from Dinton Pastures. It's a small collection of lakes loved equally by walkers, dog walkers and bird watchers. The square doesn't quite do it justice but hey ho...neither does the iPhone! 4w
  •   p_g_ritzen Beautiful my friend 3w
  •   shezasphotos I nearly fell over as I just saw your name and PP on my page !it's been so long - as always it's just brilliant to see you- trouble is we get so attached to you then you disappear again. So much has happened on our lives - yours and mine im sure ! Loved the selfie. Got to head for bed so talk soon i hope 3w
  •   shezasphotos 2w
  •   upekkha @p_g_ritzen thanks very much! 2w
  •   upekkha @shezasphotos hey Sheza! I know it's been so long...it's definitely not intentional. I've just been doing other things, then I feel guilty about not checking others feeds, which stops me posting my own photos?!..it's a vicious circle . Just looking at this photo...this was 2 weeks ago already?!! I hope you're happy Sheza, have a great day..what's left of it?! 2w
  •   shezasphotos @upekkha Davo I'm the same and think it's our value system. I try to go out of my way to visit people's feeds. As it is i follow few and struggle often to do it. But I've slowed my posting to once a week. My principle is that you visit others if you want them to visit you. There are so many who are only after their own agenda. It wears thin after a while. Usually I cull them. Have had a really stressful day with my son planning his wedding. These days the pay so the parents have no say in the day 2w
  •   lizs_b Gorgeous Dave! 2w
  •   upekkha @lizs_b thanks a lot Liz! 2w

upekkha I explored Rodborough common in search of butterflies. I came away having had a relatively close encounter with this Skylark (Alauda arvensis). It looks like it's just chilling in the sunshine with it's eyes shut! 1mon

upekkha Sunrise over Carrbridge. The weather wasn't that great for my trip to Scotland but it was mainly dry and threw up some nice colours on a couple of the mornings. 1y

upekkha Visited @rspb_love_nature Loch Garten whilst up in Scotland recently. It was too late to see the Ospreys (who leave in late August I believe) but I've got to say its such a beautiful place...and as literally no one was about you could hear a pin drop...so serene!
Managed to see a couple of crested tits whilst there but the weather was pretty poor, so bad light made it tricky for shooting. The sun poked its head through for a few minutes though for this shot. Phew...sorry for the blurb

  •   upekkha @catz49 thanks very much! 1y
  •   upekkha @vanilla_graph Hi ya thanks a lot! 1y
  •   debbytweed 😛 Well now that would be a bit of fun!! I won't do the obvious and ask any questions about other bits of clothing 1y
  •   upekkha @debbytweed well I'll satisfy your curiosity anyway...as the kilts are hired, underwear is mandatory which I'm kinda glad of, as it's going to be a bit chilly!! I'll try and get a good shot of me in the kilt and post it....only temporarily of course, bit like my current selfie 1y
  •   debbytweed Whew, what a relief to hear that Would love to see a shot of you in your kilt Dave. BTW love the latest IG profile pic 1y
  •   upekkha @debbytweed I'll make sure I get one for you then . There's a bigger version of my profile pic on my feed...for a short time anyway 1y
  •   lorashank Wow! That's stunning, Dave! The reflection is perfect! 1y
  •   shezasphotos ✿◕‿◕✿g̸r̸e̸a̸t̸ s̸h̸o̸t̸and almost fell over with surprise when I spotted a new profile pic! Am on gram pro! Lovely landscape and how you had a beautiful time 1y

upekkha I had mixed feelings whilst visiting the birds at the falconry at Dalhousie Castle, Edinburgh but I can't deny that it was a great photo opportunity!
This Harris Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus) was a bit of a poser.

upekkha I had to rescue this little Goldcrest (Regulus regulus) as it'd flown into the lodge where I was staying & stunned itself by flying into a window. Luckily, it was ok & sat in my hand for a few minutes, whilst it recovered....a quick flutter of the wings & it was gone. 1y

upekkha Well the butterflies have pretty much all but disappeared round these parts but I've got a few shots to keep me going!! Here's a common blue (Polyommatus icarus) adding a splash of colour to the green & yellow. 1y

Was hard to crop this as it looked nice whichever way . Enjoy your weekend!

upekkha Morning/evening/afternoon everyone...yes it's another post from me and another dragonfly.
This one is a four spotted chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata) take in Snettisham, Norfolk. Was fascinated by how it meticulously patrols it's territory, flying repeated patterns back & forth across the water.

upekkha Not sure what species this is but I'm gonna have a guess that it's a Common darter dragonfly (Sympetrum striolatum). Please feel free to correct me

This was taken at Wicken Fen nature reserve, Cambridgeshire. Wicken Fen was the first reserve acquired by the National Trust in 1899. It's a beautiful place teeming with wildlife

upekkha It's times like these that I wish I had a macro lens?!.....or remembered to take the olloclip out?!! A common spotted orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii) for you. These beautiful orchids are so tiny & could easily be missed!! I took so many orchid shots whilst they were out but wasn't really happy with any of them ...oh, apart from the bee orchid pic I posted...anyway... 1y
  •   upekkha @free_spirit64 thanks a lot Tami! oh I know it's pretty (as in the flower) I'm just being silly 1y
  •   upekkha @high_altitude_ thanks a lot! 1y
  •   upekkha @iheartserenity thanks very much! 1y
  •   upekkha @shezasphotos Awwww thanks Sheza!! Really happy you liked it!! I'm loving the depth of colour & detail my new body (that's camera body ) gives me...recently acquired a new lens also, so am just finding my feet with it 1y
  •   upekkha @instaworld_love thanks for you lovely words Shan! I really appreciate them 1y
  •   upekkha @lizs_b thanks very much Liz! Always a pleasure to read your comments!! 1y
  •   upekkha @babybookshark double thanks Shan! . They vary in size from 15-60cm in height but the flowers are tiny (each one roughly the size of your small finger nail I reckon, or thereabouts). I've recently got a new lens, so I forget about the olloclip?!! 1y

Even though I see them every day, I still stop & watch them in awe...even when I should be driving!!

upekkha Was happy to get this Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) shot early one morning whilst away in Norfolk. It was feeding on a baby ducking, so was lucky enough to fire off a few shots...not so lucky for the duckling though.
These beautiful birds are now listed at amber conservation status in the UK and a species of conservation concern across Europe. If you're in the UK & do happen to spot one, be sure to visit www.kestrelcount.org and log your sighting, as it helps & only takes a minute of your time

upekkha A single Bee orchid (Ophrys apifera) I found whilst out at a local nature reserve at the weekend.
I dedicate this to @mostdeserving & @ig_snapshots for featuring my blue butterfly shot recently. I feel this is a fitting tribute to these two amazing feeds!! Be sure to follow them both & tag all your relevant shots to #mostdeserving & #_igsnapshots

  •   babybookshark So Beautiful! It must be quite small Dave? Gorgeous little orchid 1y
  •   upekkha @roduncal_ud thanks very much Gill! I didn't even know they had them at this reserve, just happen to stumble across it...one lone Bee orchid, in amongst the grass & wildflowers was very happy, as have never seen one before!! 1y
  •   upekkha @babybookshark thanks a lot Shan! It is gorgeous & yes it is quite small (grows up to 50cm) but a lot bigger than most of the other orchids here in the UK. 1y
  •   cowpi32 They were terrible here this year- too much competition with the long lush grass- tallest bee orchids I have seen! Lovely photo 1y
