- each Yarn Corner member is given a timeframe of 8 months to complete their piece.
- the majority of pieces take up to 3 months to make.
- on average it takes 6 hours to sew the pieces to the 28 trees.
- on average it takes around 2-3 hours to take down all the pieces.
- we use two 19ft scissor lifts for installation and one for deinstall.
- the installation is classed as an event on the City of Melbourne (council) calendar and is always approved for one month.

  •   colorjoylynn And in some cities in the northeast USA, it's illegal. They call it graffiti even though no damage is done. 1d
  •   twilighttaggers Depending on the council here, it can be classed as destruction of property. Yarn Corner is lucky to have worked with almost 10 councils who live our work and know that we take care of our displays. 1d
  •   twilighttaggers *love our work I mean @colorjoylynn ^^ 1d
  •   nyssabug I've actually been taken into a police station because the officer was overzealous in his argument that I was destroying public property. He also said I was being a nuisance to the community because the pieces were too brightly colored. 1d
  •   twilighttaggers @nyssabug That's awful! We did a project called Royal Granny Parade where we did 85 trees in granny squares down the centre of a main road in Melbourne. 2/3 of the 85 were hacked down by the local roads authority even though we had council approval because they said it was a distraction to drivers because people could mistake any red, orange or green in the yarn for a traffic light! What absolute bullshit! 1d

  •   nyssabug @twilighttaggers that's ridiculous! 21h
  •   sosaytaz you are the person in the world 17h
