tuulavintage Sri Lankans have been among the friendliest, and happiest locals I've experienced. Although we don't speak the same language, this sweet man invited us into his house for tea with his wife, and proudly showed me inside this treehouse he built as an elephant watchtower. 🇱🇰 Photo by @grantlegan 5d

  •   leahphuong You should try the soursop!:) the green spiky fruits in the picture (unless I'm wrong) I normally add sugar and some ice to it, mix together and tastes amazing!:). Heard there's a lot of great health benefits to it as wwll 4d

tuulavintage I am currently sitting at Colombo Airport, waiting for my flight home to Sydney. During the past week Sri Lanka has been pounded by torrential rains causing landslides and heavy flooding, killing over 73 people with hundreds missing, and over 500,000 forced to flee their homes. Despite the hardship the streets were packed with welcoming, smiling faces for tonight's Vesak celebrations. I am so sad to be leaving this country, but will continue to share my experiences here over the next several days with hope that people will see how beautiful Sri Lanka and it's people are. Please donate what you can to the Sri Lanka Red Cross through the link in my bio. J x

tuulavintage This beautiful creature is Madu. I never expected to meet him, and the moment I did I burst in to tears. Elephants have been my favourite animal for many years with this chance encounter leaving me overcome with mixed emotions. There are hundreds of elephants in Sri Lanka living in "sanctuaries" and "orphanages" aimed at being a safe haven, but seem to be tourist attractions and not an ideal environment for the elephants. If you know of any reputable and responsible organisations or individuals helping elephants here in Sri Lanka please let me know, and how I can be involved. 2w
