tripkehughes That salad is bigger than her head. Sure I offered to make her one while I was also making my salad at lunch. But NO! She waited until after I finished eating before saying, "Mom, that looks good. You KNOW I love salads!" Sure enough, 5 minutes later she's not only helped to make her own dressing but also the salad! I'm guessing this "waiting until after the parents have already finished" problems happens at other homes too? 3h

tripkehughes We are going on two months living in our Glamper. This summer has treated us to beautiful hikes, two birthday celebrations, visits from family & friends, sleep overs, bike rides, endless library trips, local gelato, farmers' markets, overnight backpacking, 1st ride on a bike without training wheels, custom built forts in the woods, picnics, and almost daily visits with grand parents. For today, I pause & reflect upon our time here. I'm thankful for this time and the blessing just being here. Praying my kids will look back on our summers here with fondness.

Side-note: kids built a fort in the bunk bed wing, and I found my youngest hiding just so she could read in peace. #readingfortsrock

tripkehughes Headaches are keeping from the trails today. I miss the 🌲. What's keeping you from your adventure? 6d

tripkehughes Aspen trees are my favorite, even before the levels turn yellow. Seems the kids thought so too. #firsthikewithouttears #funmom #arizonatrail #aspencorner #aspentrees #flagstaff 7d

tripkehughes Can't express the beauty of the Arizona Trail just below Snowbowl. If you haven't been, hustle on over and pack a smile. I think the only thing sore were my cheeks from all the joy. #arizonatrail #flagstaff #aspencorner 7d
  •   azhikinggal I love it up there. Planning on hiking Humphreys next week for my birthday ♡ 7d

  •   tripkehughes @azhikinggal have you been before? Humphreys was my first hike up here many many moons ago. These days, with the kids in tow,the trails are little less strenuous. I Humphreys. Have fun 6d
  •   azhikinggal I've hiked Humphreys 10 X's with 8 summits and 1 saddle (storm came n at 10 am instead of the normal 1 pm) and one time we didn't make it past 11,000 feet because there was snow early in the season and I didn't have the right gear on me. I just love Humphreys as a training mountain. 6d

tripkehughes Five happy kids before cray cray rain stuck and the trail ran like a creek. 1w

tripkehughes We found this beautiful trail on the Arizona Trail system, right below Snowbowl. We believe the trail was called #AspenCorner. Anyone ever hiked there before? Side note: poured cats and dogs. Kids not as happy about the rain as the parents. 1w

tripkehughes It was a pleasant welcome as I spent most of the night tossing and battling claustrophobia. Not used to sleeping in small tents as I prefer cowboy camping. However, as you can see it all worked out. This was the beautiful view from our tent door. 1w

tripkehughes Beautiful views were to be had on #kendrickspeak. This fern (?) grove was one of my favorites. Can anyone confirm what the vegetation is in this picture? 1w

tripkehughes This was the campsite for his first ever backpacking trip. Look at the beautiful saddle site we found just waiting for us. #kendrickspeak didn't disappoint. 1w

tripkehughes Some people pay a baby sitter for date night. Nah, not me. Baby sitters are used for cycling time with my #ride430 peeps. It was beautiful today, a little windy but beautiful. FYI: Berg pulled the whole time, on his mountain bike, again! 2w

tripkehughes Even though I *need* to get moving this morning, I can't seem to break away from watching them sleep. Peaceful. 2w

tripkehughes What you see here is the intense negotiations of who gets to use mom's new hiking poles. She used them, he wanted them. It was cray cray for a while. In the end everyone was happy. I even got to use them (and by them, I mean one!) by the end of the hike. 2w

tripkehughes Someone special earned a new nickname today: Hollywood! This girl cracks me up with her styling moves daily. BUT she did manage to hike almost four miles, her longest yet. If my calculations are correct she started enjoying it around mile 3.25. 2w

tripkehughes We had to make a stop at Babbitts to work out our backpacking gear for this weekend. Looks like rain will continue through the weekend. The desert liver in me welcomes the monsoon but the mother of a 1st time backpacker is a teensy bit nervous. ANYWAY while we were working out our kinks, I look over and see #LittleMiss I her rain gear, Hollywood shades, sitting against a pole eating a Kind bar. She melts me. #littleMisshasstyle 2w

tripkehughes Me and my cycling buddy, Berg. This guy is crazy strong. Even though we are road riding, he will regularly show up with his mountain bike and pull the whole day. Today was no different, the man is a machine. Humble, kind and giving too! #ride430 3w

tripkehughes One of my favorite things about Flagstaff is the library. The staff is ah*mazing. One of our favorite programs is the Paws to Read. All three of mine read. But Little Miss read Nancy Drew for 30 minutes to that sweet dog. Melting my heart and putting a skip in her step. #flagstafflibrary 3w
  •   kellieclose That is so cool they will do that to help the kids read! 3w
