treefighter Today while I was snapping the Gallatins from Storm Castle, a Violet-Green swallow streaked through just as I clicked, and the iPhone surprisingly nailed it. #wildbyaccident 3w

treefighter Psyched! But ultimately thwarted, about 300 vert feet from the 11,200+ summit. The Wy'east route did not go. You can see the gap in the snice here. I liked the name and it seemed to be the natural route up and down, following the chillest bike ride from Hood River to Mt. Hood. But Mt Hood is uncharacteristically dry this year, and this route needs snow. So, no picnic. But a crazy overnight mental and physical trip nonetheless. Can't wait to come back. But now I'm going to ski a few more thou of ash-frosted snow then ride my bike downhill 35 miles. Happy D-Day! 4w

treefighter First leg complete. Swam across the Columbia from OR to WA, then swam back across. Logistically easier this way since I'm solo. River was calm and windless (!) , and most thankfully, barge free. Current kind of freaked me out for a sec on the way there. I swam more calmly on the way back. Made me very happy when a bald eagle buzzed me. Currently enjoying my first course: baked potato-jalapeño pizza. What a day! #mthoodpicnic 4w

  •   teton_squirrel Teewi looks pretty bony, what'd you ski? Is this recent? 2mon
  •   treefighter @teton_squirrel this was this morning. Went for the crooked thumb coolie. Stopped a few hundred feet short of the summit due to increasing heat and severe wallowing. Sizzling corn from there though. 2mon
  •   teton_squirrel Sounded like it got hot super quick today. 2mon

treefighter New @powdermagazine column is online. With the Ford-Stettner seeing constant traffic these days, how should we be skiing the #GrandTeton? Click on my link to read what @jimmy_chin, @dougworkman, Hans Johnstone and Greg Collins have to say about it. Pic from last spring's adventure with the Johnstone family. http://www.powder.com/places/back-country/the-margin-is-there-a-better-way-to-ski-the-grand-teton/ 3mon
  •   mtncorn I believe we have seen an unroped descent from Rick Wyatt many years ago and several others over the years. I think what everyone is looking for is a continuous ski descent.... 3mon
  •   simonskis @mtncorn everyone is looking to get high! 3mon
  •   treefighter @mtncorn You're right, Wyatt, Koch, Collins, Chin and others have descended without pulling out a rope. But nobody has skied the Grand yet. 3mon
  •   willowgita Great perspective! 3mon
  •   reedcham69 What a shot 3mon
  •   perpetualweekend Nice piece! I'd say they shoulda run it in print, but then it'd be ten months more before I'd have had the chance to read it 3mon
  •   treefighter Thanks @perpetualweekend! Been following your epic adventures, and enjoying your art and imagery. Profoundly inspiring. Hope to meet some day. 3mon
  •   mtncorn Hope your having a great spring @treefighter ! And I will be psyched when someone skis the gft! 3mon
