travelholics Located in Sangkhlaburi Thailand, the Mon (Saphan Mon) Bridge is the second longest wooden bridge (850 meters) in the world. (Longest is in Japan). It is used by the people of Sangkhlaburi and the Mon villages to cross the Songkalia River. No cars allowed, just pedestrians and bikes. As a side note this photo was shot through the car window as we flew down the road. I do like this new iPhone. #MellowTrek 21h

travelholics Tiny people and big rocks. Phi Phi Islands, Thailand.

I arrived back home yesterday in time for Christmas with my family. I have to admit it is strange to land into the middle of Christmas Hub-Bub when you have spent a month in a country that really doesn't celebrate Xmas. Talk about stress-free holiday :-). And the Sunday Night Street Market in Chiang Mai was an awesome way to pick out gifts.
Happy Holidays to my IG Family and Friends. May 2015 be a fabulous year for you all.

travelholics Went up to watch the sunrise over the city of Chiang Mai from what is considered the holiest shrine in northern Thailand, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep (also spelled Wat Phratat Doi Suthep) Founded in 1386, it sits atop Doi Suthep mountain on the western outskirts of Chiang Mai. 7d

travelholics Today we went on a mini trek to a Karen Village in the mountains outside of Chiang Mai. The Karen are the largest group of the Hill Tribes with approximately 280,000 living in small villages throughout northern Thailand and Burma. The village we visited today has approximately 200 members. The Karen are farmers of vegetables and rice. This gentleman runs the gathering place where the villagers meet for coffee every morning before going out to the fields. As we were walking to the village we saw a women harvesting coffee beans and next to the gathering place is the coffee roaster. We enjoyed some of the smoothest coffee I have ever had. I'm not sure where 'mom' was but 'dad' had no problem being a wonderful host with his little one on his back. Karen Village, northern Thailand 1w
