travelettes So after a hectic few days in cold Prague, I feel like I've walked ten thousand miles, drank my weight in cocktails, never been far from a decent coffee, ate too many dumplings and been mesmerized by the sights!
Just as I was leaving Miss Sophie's hostel, I found this postcard under a cushion in the cafe. What a fun project (#postcardproject @MalloryVienna) to get involved in, & a lovely end to my time in Prague!
Follow more of my adventures & life over at @s_saint, & I'll pass y'all over to the travelettes in Thailand again!

travelettes Back in Prague, I headed to the Old Jewish Cemetery, Europe's oldest surviving Jewish graveyard. There is an estimated 100,000 burials here and the land is raised up due to the layers of tombs. It used to be the only place where the Jewish could be buried, so when they ran out of room they were only given more dirt. Not more land.
So sad, but it's important to remember the persecution of days gone by.

travelettes And here's another shot within the Ossuary. This coat of arms is from a Bohemian and Franconian aristocratic family called Schwarzenberg. It's all made of human bone, and if you look hard behind it you'll see mountains of skulls behind the bars

travelettes Welcome to the morbid Bone Church of Kutna Hora, also known as the Ossuary.
It's estimated to contain between 40,000 - 70,000 people. In 1400, a gothic church was built over the cemetery and this lower chapel was used to store the bones of the graves that were disturbed in the construction.
Eerie but fascinating! #postedbysophie

travelettes We're heading out of Prague for a few hours! The train station is super easy to navigate, just make sure you're there 20 mins before your train so you can find the ticket booths and not feel too rushed. All the trains have a strong Wes Anderson feel to them: sit in compartments and the decor of ours was vivid turquoise & pink!
We're heading out to Kutna Hora to see the Bone Church. You can visit it with a tour... Or do it yourself, as the return train ticket was less than half the tour's price!

travelettes I know many turn their noses up at the Charles Bridge as it gets so jam packed with visitors to Prague. But out of peak season, and later on in the day (or early in the morn if you're an early morning kinda lady!) it's a lot quieter. It is a beautiful bridge, lined with 30 saints & patron saints, but if you walk further down the river after crossing it, you'll get some picture perfect views without any crowds in your way!

travelettes A great place for dinner is Cafe Louvre! It opened in 1902 and served famous people, such as, Franz Kafka and Albert Einstein. They have a huge amount of healthy veggie dishes, which is a welcomed relief from the mass amounts of goulash and dumplings we've been eating! #postedbysophie 3d
  •   njdxo And it's absolutely beautiful! Are you loving how all of the cafes are upstairs? So many gorgeous views and gorgeous ceilings! 3d
  •   rhnath @lyssnicmiller We should look at this menu and cost... I like healthy 3d
  •   fbpell Yessss!!!! 2d
  •   travelettes @rhnath it's got good prices!! @njdxo I love the Art Nouvou styling of it!! 2d

travelettes Prague's coffee & cocktail scene is amazing! It really surprised me. I was never disappointed by a coffee and we searched hard for the hidden cocktail bars, and they certainly impressed us.
Bar and Books has a sister bar in New York, and it's freaking amazing! I had the most delicious Basil Martini and was pretty proud that we had found it! It took us two attempts to find it! #postedbysophie

  •   hannahonearth And they have Starbucks just outside the castle with the most scenic view of whole Prague. Probably the most beautiful Starbucks I have ever been to. 3d
  •   travelettes @hannahonearth I could not believe my eyes when I saw that Starbucks!! Made me a bit sad to be honest. Wish they'd had some lovely authentic Czech coffee shop instead! 3d
  •   hannahonearth Yes, that made me wonder too. It could've been nicer if it was aunthentic Czech. Nonetheless, I am glad you got up here around the castle and to the castle itself because it is undeniably beautiful and breathtaking! 3d

travelettes In the golden hour of sunlight, we walked up the short hill to Prague Castle. It's the largest castle complex in the world and is a mismatch of architecture from the various ages. So beautiful in this light!

travelettes After exploring the streets all morning, we stopped for a late lunch at Lokal. A great spot for food that's really popular with locals and tourists!
We had Grog (rum in hot water) to warm up, & Czech Cannoli (biscuit filled with sweetened cream). I've noticed Czech food is quite beige, but delicious!

travelettes In the centre of Prague's Old Town, the astronomical clock stands proud.
People say it's the most overrated attraction as when it chimes, not a huge amount happens... But I think it's awesome as it was built in 1410 (a heck of a long time ago) and still works!!

travelettes With the sun shining, we went on a free walking tour around Prague's Old Town. The guide got us from our hostel (Miss Sophie's) and took us into the centre to begin the tour!
I bloomin love the Czech buildings! Prague wasn't bombed much in the world wars so a lot of its original architecture survived.

travelettes Oh yes, this is what I'm talking about!! I'm a big fan of gothic architecture, so I'm super stoked to be in Prague: the fairytale land of spires and goth.
This is the Powder Gate that dates to the 11th Century, one of 13 that used to surround Prague. It's a great landmark when you get lost in the city
Looks amazing at night, eh?
