tomplewe Two culinary revolutions arrived in the mail today - do you know what they are? 7h
  •   yoheinotheyyo No, what are they?! 5h
  •   tomplewe @yoheinotheyyo the Soylent is a powdered drink that is engineered to provide 100% of what your body needs, so you could survive on it alone (or use it for quick snacks when you don't want to bother with real food). The Anova thing is a "sous vide" immersion cooker that makes it very easy to cook meat perfectly every time. Google them, they're both really cool! 4h

tomplewe I'm trying Brooklyn this year. I knew I liked Cobble Hill, but I knew nothing about Brooklyn Bridge Park, just a few minutes walk away. Here are three big ol soccer fields with downtown Manhattan looming behind. What the?! Awesome! 6d
  •   tomplewe This is a pier, so the soccer field goes right out to the water. 6d
  •   monicanichole Yes, this is very cool......but...... 6d

tomplewe Paul Hall at Juilliard has come to feel a lot like home. 3w
  •   tomplewe The pianist had a strong Jason Schwartzman vibe, and the violinist was like a young, super thin Peggy from Mad Men. 3w

tomplewe Converting old outdoor lights to solar by wiring the guts of new plastic solar lights from Target into the old metal casings. It took many tools, I felt very awesome. 4w

tomplewe One time they needed a photo of a kid crying at a fair (for a church magazine, no less). Rather than find an actor, they took a regular kid to a fair and had his mother ditch him and hide when he wasn't looking, then photographed the results. Not sure I ever recovered. 1mon
  •   hannham It was a different era 1mon
  •   hannham A new era, perhaps? 1mon
  •   royalpond Why have I never heard about this awesome story. 1mon
  •   linda0731 That's so sad!!! And funny. 1mon
  •   elabau It's not all fun and games and having cartoon versions of your siblings memorialized in magazines, I see. 1mon
  •   jodikiddperez That's hilarious! Ha ha ha! You poor kid! 1mon
  •   tomplewe @hannham niiice. But yes, in the 80s you could do all kinds of things to kids. 1mon

tomplewe Should you find yourself one day in a hotel room with a fridge to store your leftovers but no microwave to reheat them, this totally works. 2mon
  •   stagestopstudio Lol! 2mon
  •   jkbigs But dries out the food too? 2mon
  •   tomplewe @jkbigs in theory maybe, but Dominos pasta dinners have enough layers of oil and fat to negate any of that 2mon

tomplewe There was a super cool little line of clouds all along the mountains (well below the boring-er normal clouds) in Utah the other day. 3mon
  •   cameronking Dude. It's time to come back! 3mon
  •   tomplewe Here's the dark truth @cameronking : I flew in on Wednesday night and am looking for an apartment now, but I am investigating Brooklyn (and probably the Brooklyn ward on Sunday). The main reservation I have with that is the thought of not being in the unbeatable Manhattan 1st ward, which is kind of my only home these days. 3mon
