toffloravbrod Will the wind ever remember
The names it has blown in the past
And with its crutch, its old age, and its wisdom
It whispers, "No, this will be the last."

toffloravbrod 9th Street Stompers at Preservation Pub last night. Go and see them, especially if you like gypsy jazz - they did a great cover of Django's "Minor Swing!" #Hipstamatic #Doris #Dixie 3mon

toffloravbrod I feel confident in saying that nothing I've ever bought has given me more pleasure than the Zenit-E 35mm SLR made in 1979 in the former USSR. It's a camera of substantial heft and has a shutter sound that is all but discreet, but it's one of my favourite sounds - a clumsy-sounding CLUNK that at first did not instill any confidence in the camera or its engineering. I've taken some cracking shots and some real stinkers with the Zenit-E. It's the camera with which I have been finding (often stumbling) my way through the art of photography, and even in the absence of that fact, there is something that draws me inexplicably to this big, hulking tank of photographic equipment. Haha, maybe it's possible to be soulmates with an inanimate object. Whatever the case, no camera that I've used so far - and I have quite a collection of old cameras - has felt so right while in use. Even carrying it around feels good. There have been some mishaps along the way. The film was not advancing in my last roll, resulting in the loss of a handful of exposures, some of which were for @peopleofknoxville. Another time, the last two frames were somehow destroyed during the film rewinding process - shredded, really. Despite these (and a few other) hiccups in the years I've owned it, I can't help my instinct to carry on shooting with the Zenit-E and I will do as long as I can keep on buying film! 4mon

toffloravbrod Luther played the boogie-woogie in the strangest kind of way (I guess he could be called Luther, but I don't know. He also was not playing boogie-woogie, but I wanted to continue the theme of Johnny Cash lyrics. Heh) 4mon

You said that you were leavin'

Pack your bags and pull out this evenin'
