thesaronglife This year I intended to post at least weekly & just noticed I've only posted 10 times! Busy but good life, hope you all have enjoyed your year so far. I don't believe we can have "bad" years (or days), just eventful ones - it all comes down to our interpretations of events and how we perceive/learn from them. I was lucky to start the year in Lombok, at this beautiful wave! #gratitude 11mon

thesaronglife One of my favorite surf days ever. Green Island NSW, the water was SO clear! The sea grass, urchins, and fishies were so vibrant, it felt like surfing in an aquarium. What a wonderful world we live in! 1y

thesaronglife I came across this gate yesterday in Medan. I had walked past it everyday for the last 10 days and never noticed it. But yesterday I did, and it struck me as beautiful. A beautiful piece of urban decay, with quite a story. What do you think? 1y

thesaronglife I'm deeply saddened by the murder of a woman I may have encountered but did not know, she was dear to many I care for; I am also affected by a child dying from malnutrition on the other side of the world; a loving dog in the pound with mere hours to go before he is killed; those who can't marry their love due to others' imposed beliefs; our rickshaw driver breathing in exhaust all day to eek out a living; the veteran with one leg begging on the sidewalk because our govt doesn't support his physical or mental care; big business getting bigger; Monsanto controlling what we eat; whales & dolphins caught in fishing nets; the baby rhino nudging his dead mom with her horn cut off. I've been/we've been exposed to this in the last few days, plus much more. On the other side I've seen people painting rainbows on the streets of Sydney; marriage equality passed in some states and countries; celebrations for births, marriages, achievements; friends planning holidays, surfs, get togethers; good people trying to save lives, the planet, reduce plastics; I watched a gecko save another gecko from a snake, a dog in a suit eating peanut butter; people becoming aware; lots of smiles, laughter and love. We are ALL connected. None of us are going get out of this alive, we're all in it together, so let's do what we can to support each other. Share the happy and feel okay to put a hand out if you need more happy. Much love & peace 1y

This morning's sunrise over Mt. Agung in memory of mom. Each rising of the sun reminds me that I'm alive, to cherish each day and make the most of it! Been such a busy and incredible year so far, I've only spent 8 days at home this year and haven't taken as many photos as usual but do have a few to share soon. Hope you all are living life & loving it xoxo

thesaronglife After 9 days of unreal snowboarding in Hakuba, Japan, the slow & steady bus ride to Nagano was the perfect way to farewell this incredible landscape. I shed tears for the beauty of her nature and people and for my mother and grandmother. My appreciation for them grew, although they are no longer physically here, I could feel their spirit, their tenacity, their suffering and their love, here in their homeland. 2y
  •   circa__1987 Such beauty!! Quite a contrast from the heat wave in Australia. 2y
  •   thesaronglife @_puravida_25 so true! We're heading back to Bali today so gotta be mentally prepared for the heat and humidity!! 2y

thesaronglife Last post for 2012. It's been an incredible year, full of successes, happiness and fun, with just enough trials, tribulations and tragedies to remind us that life is so precious, to cherish it, ourselves and others. Take care of each other and have a safe New Years Eve!! 2y

thesaronglife After 5 weeks in my beloved Sydney, we head "home" tomorrow. My heart is aching today...as I question if I'm on the "right" path. If I've made the "right" choices. (Is there such a thing as "right"?) I love these moments, I've had many, we all have. I see them as opportunities to reflect, to cherish the journey thus far, to trust myself for getting me to where I am now, to make the most of now and to be excited in the uncertainly in what the future holds. Because it is in moments like these that anything becomes possible!! 2y

  •   alexdefio Do you not see the first row down in the second shot of the girl surfing the wave and see how the water is made up of h20 and spirits ...This girl is protected by a angel in which goes before her and leads her way from the rocks ,shark and other bad fruits that might hurt her spiritually ...see the face yes ? 2y
  •   alexdefio Top upper box in the middle as the other face of somewhat of a bear or a dog steering her wave behind the surfer ..? have to look close but I can see very well the spirits .. 2y

thesaronglife I love that moment when the sun is just about to fully rise above the horizon, momentarily clinging on with the last of its grip...as though it can't bear to part ways. This was yesterday's sunrise; today I felt this very way about parting with my bed. (But the gorgeous surf reminded me why I do it!) 😴 2y

thesaronglife Tonight's sunset and another opportunity to reflect on the events of the day. I was asked as the sun waved farewell "what's on your bucket list?" "I don't have one" I replied. "There are many things I'd like to do, but if I were to die tomorrow, I would do so knowing that I've taken risks, chances and said yes, made peace with my loved ones as best I can, treated all living creatures with respect and lived knowing that I've tried. I still feel like there's more to be done, more to experience, more people to help, but if this was to be my last sunset, I would be satisfied...and ready." 2y
