thekitchenmagpie Where @blackbird_pie and I are going to live when we are old widows, Begijnhof. Only single women live in this hidden Amsterdam courtyard as tradition has held for hundreds of years. We'll ride bikes & eat space brownies because hey, we're 80. 13h

thekitchenmagpie Amsterdam, you need to stop being so beautiful. I have to go home, you know. Instead I'm plotting how to have my belongings and dog brought overseas since I want to stay here. 16h

thekitchenmagpie The famous Amsterdam street fries, done "original" which means mayo, peanut sauce & fresh chopped onions. I wholeheartedly embrace the Dutch people's love of mayo. This combo was surprisingly delicious!! 19h

thekitchenmagpie If you haven't had a fresh Stroopwafel from a street vendor in Amsterdam, put it on your food bucket list. Be warned though, it will ruin you forever for the packaged ones. 21h
  •   ourtastytravels I live about an hour south of Amsterdam about half the year, and the weekend market near here has a guy who makes them fresh. Heavenly! I've used the good packaged ones in various recipes (really good in pancake batter!) and we even have Stroopwafel liquor at home! 19h
  •   theartofcakeyeg A good friend was just telling me about these! Now I must try one! 19h
  •   handmadetherapy Mmmmmmmmm 19h
  •   momstownedm @Ann_Antalocy I hope you get to try one of these!! 19h
  •   thekitchenmagpie @ourtastytravels can I buy the liquor here??? That sounds amazing! 17h
  •   thekitchenmagpie @natnatsees I loooove them so much! I have three packs to bring home. The fresh are mindblowingly delish! 17h
  •   ourtastytravels Let me ask @metsbwd as he's the one who got it. I assume it's available in Amsterdam somewhere, and you need to get the Speculoos liquor too! Planning to do some baking with both! I've been stocking up on local liquors everywhere I travel lately in hopes of incorporating them into some recipes. Lol 16h
  •   metsbwd @thekitchenmagpie the liqueur is from Gouda, home of the stroopwafel. Well worth a side trip for that (plus the aged Gouda cheeses as well). The place is Van Den Berg and they're at Lange Groenendaal 32 right neat the center square of Gouda. In the mornings you can even visit the bakery. 15h

thekitchenmagpie Breakfast. Because sadly it can't be chocolate coated waffles all the time. These strawberries taste like the ones fresh from my garden however so this isn't a hardship. 2d

thekitchenmagpie Pretty sure Edmonton is missing out on a major postcard haul like Karlsruhe, Germany has harnessed. I laughed out loud in the middle of the store! Apparently the construction is so bad here they make postcards making fun of themselves!! 6d
