Art has literally saved my life on multiple occasions, it gives me the outlet I need and the peace I crave in this hectic life. Now I just want too move on too tattooing, and I fucking will. thekatvond Detail of "Hans Memling" by @MICHAEL_HUSSAR from my collection.
One of my favourite details of this painting: the trail of tears forming the heart on his chest. (if you look closely, you can spot Michael's teeny tiny signature in the background.)

thekatvond "Hans Memling" oil painting by American-Baroque artist, @MICHAEL_HUSSAR
Hans Memling was a 14th century German-Flemish painter, who when wounded in battle was taken to a monastery and nursed back to health by nuns. Memling was so grateful for such kindness, that he dedicated much of the rest of his life, painting devotional pieces for these nuns to hang on their church walls. Because there are no known self-portraits of Memling, Hussar chose to depict him in absolute devotion. In drag.. As one of the nuns.

thekatvond Tramp Art: an antiquated art movement that began in the mid-late 1800's.
The "Crown of Thorns" series of Tramp Art used this beautiful woodworking technique where small pieces of wood were whittled by hand (usually w a pocketknife) into layers of geometric shapes that strategically interlocked and held the structure in place. Without nails or glue!

thekatvond Just watched Alejandro Jodorowsky's "The Dance of Reality." He is, by far, my favourite modern-day poet. 3d

thekatvond My first professional shader tattoo machine. My friend at that time, had a machine shop and customized the frame using an old Deutschmark. A few weeks shy of my 18th birthday, I tattooed my very first portrait tattoo using this here machine.
A decade, (and thousands of tattoos) later, I decided to gift this machine to Lemmy, as a token of love and friendship.

thekatvond My little cat, Piaf was born a runt. Dismissed by his mom, he was bottle fed by hand, and regardless of certain health complications he pulled through and is probably one of the best things to ever happen to me! What a teeny tiny little gift! 6d
